Day of the exam
He feels confident as he finished his exam. It was not as bad as he expected it to be but he knows that there are a lot of other applicants so he tries not to keep his hopes up. He is now on his way to work and could feel his cheeks hurt probably from smiling too much whenever he thinks about last night.
If there's one thing Jeong Hyeok is sure of himself, it is the fact that he is not a risk taker. All his life,he has calculated risks before making any decisions. It was mainly because he does not afford to fail. So, he would not deny that what he did last night was very uncharacteristic. It was not part of his plan to confess to her, not this early, not ever, actually. But she kissed him and then he forgot about the risks and the plans and all the stupid things he tell himself.
And suddenly, he don't mind taking a big step. It shouldn't be that bad. They might be worlds apart but he would work hard to be successful and to fit into her world and he knew that's what matters right now. All else will fall into the right place in time.
He got off the bus and walked to the coffee shop, still smiling. As he approached the shop, he noticed it was still closed. He checked the time and it was almost 11 in the morning. The coffee shop should be open by now, did something happen? He tried calling Chi Su but he noticed a sign in the door as he approached the shop.
"Closed for the day- We would resume normal operations tomorrow"
He called his manager again and this time, he answered.
"Jeong Hyeok-ah"
"Manager Pyo, why is the shop closed for the day?"
"Oh, I sent a message in the group chat this morning."
He was too busy with the tests and with Seri that he did not notice the messages in the group chat. "But anyway, someone rented the whole place today..."
"Rented the coffee shop? Then, why is it closed? Is the event tonight?"
"Miss Yoon paid for the sales today so we could rest, we did so good yesterday with the event so this is her token of appreciation. She called this morning to let me know that she arranged everything with the main office..." Chi Su explained. "Consider it your day off, all the staff would be receiving premium as well from Queens group."
Jeong Hyeok is somehow amazed with what he is hearing, is she really this rich? Maybe, she really is out of his league.
"Okay, Manager Pyo. I guess I should head home now, then?" he said still confused.
"Yes, rest well, Jeong Hyeok..."
He smiled at himself as he sent her a message. "What was that? Did you really reserved the shop today?"
Looking around, he realized he had the whole day free, then. He suddenly felt that he needs to sleep. He walked back to the bus station to his home when his phone rang, "Hello?" he answered as soon as he saw her name.
"I just woke up again. I saw your message. Did your test went well?"
"Of course, I was really in a good mood when I woke up this morning." he said and if only she could see his smile right now.
"I was worried you were up late last night.. didn't you feel sleepy?"
"Not really but now I do...good thing someone paid for my day off today."
"Go rest, you deserve it..." she said as he could not stop himself from smiling on the other end of the line.
"I'm going home now. What are you doing today?"
