"You could marry someone else but I want the next six days." She is not sure if she understood it right. Is he out of his mind?
"We can't do that." she protested, her shoes forgotten in the doorstep as she turn around to look at him completely. "Why?" he asked looking at her which honestly intimidated her. "It's not fair to you." she said softly.
"I can take care of myself." Jeong Hyeok said as he put two bowls of noodles in the dining table. She looked at him in confusion.
"But that's crazy..." she said but Jeong Hyeok just sat in the table waiting for her. She found her self placing her things on the couch and like a magnet she approached him. "Just eat first, let's discuss over breakfast."
She could laugh at how vulnerable she become when it comes to him. She was set to leave already but hearing this from him, she could not believe she is even considering this. They ate in silence. He finished his bowl first as she is eating unbelievably slow trying to prolong the meal to think about this better.
"Why did you stay in the rain?" he asked.
She looked at him, "I couldn't move..." she shrugged. "I didn't know where to go."
"Why did you come back?" It was her turn to ask question.
"I took your car keys by mistake. I guess you didn't even notice that." he said so she shook her head in response. "I couldn't let something happen to you."
"You're not mad at me?" she asked.
"I thought we're taking turns with the questions." he said smiling at her which irritated her. How can this situation be funny? He saw her serious face so he responded, "As I have told you earlier, this is not entirely your fault. You're just as helpless as I am in this situation."
"But I should have not made a move." she said turning to her bowl, trying to avoid his eyes. He reached over the table and held one of her hand. "As far as I remember, I kissed you too."
"It's not the same... you didn't know." she said, allowing his hand to rest on hers but still not looking at him.
"If you're really sorry, give me six more days."
"That would just complicate things, you don't deserve six days, Jeong Hyeok." she said now looking at his eyes now. "You deserve more."
"But I'll take what you'd allow me to. May it be six days, five, four.. I'll take it." She sighed. If only she was brave enough to drop everything now and be with him. If it were only the two of them to consider, she would easily give all the days she could possibly give but there were just too many factors.
She didn't say anything after that until they got distracted with the sound of her phone ringing. It was Seo Dan. Her friend really has the worst timings. She was about to ignore the call but she saw a message from her.
"You will regret not answering your phone, Yoon Seri. You owe me big time."
She suddenly felt the need to call her back. "I have to make a call. I think there is something wrong."
"Okay." he said as he took the bowls and started washing them in the sink.
She immediately dialed Seo Dan's number as she watched him in front of the sink. What could be so urgent that Seo Dan had left a lot of missed calls on her phone.
"Yoon Seri, where are you?" she asked with a hint of annoyance in her voice.
"Uhm, I'm at home." she lied. Jeong Hyeok smiled since his back is still facing her so she wouldn't know. He finds watching her lie about them so funny, now that he knows the truth.
