Y/N's P.O.V.
I follow Harrison into the 'Mess Hall', which was essentially a cafeteria, and he leads me to the lunch line. I get in line behind him and hear someone snickering behind me.
I turn around to see a redhead with a yellow shirt and ripped sleeves as fat as the mid-western summer day is long. He looked down at me, meeting my gaze. He yelled out, "Hey everyone! New Girl and Harrison are hanging out! I think they're dating!". I've known Harrison for less than 2 hours, what the actual fuck?
I keep my mouth shut, and just stood in line. The other campers heard it though and began to laugh. They tried to pair me with a guy I barely knew on my first day. I grumble under my breath as I tug my backpack up onto the bottom of my neck.
Harrison looks back to me and says, "Don't mind Nurf, he's a jerk."
I smile, but Nerf did not. Instead, Nerf looked quite offended by this, and said, "Well, uhh. This girl was following you around!".
Now everyone was laughing. They called me names like 'Lap Dog' and told me to go fetch after throwing stuff at my face. I was not expecting that type of shit happening in a place consisting of mostly 10-13-year-olds and one seemingly 15-year-old.
I sigh in defeat and just stay in line like always. I hear Nerf say, "HA! She's new, so I feel insecure because I think she might be better than me. So I have to gain a feeling of self-worth by putting down the new kid!" Wow, that's one really self-aware bully.
Eventually, the laughter dies down, and we all continue our lives. I get my lunch from the 'Quartermaster' and follow Harrison. I sit down in front of him and start eating some mediocre mashed potatoes, meat so processed I couldn't tell what it was, and frozen peas that weren't put in the microwave yet. I chew on my semi-frozen peas semi-thawed at room temperature with a taste of cold dissatisfaction that wouldn't leave. I sigh and keep eating. What could I do about it? I don't have much on me. Just my backpack and my parents' sack tied to it. I didn't look into the sack yet, but I didn't want to.
I finish my 4 out of 10 meal and so does Harrison. He leads me through the process of putting my plate away, but took my plate and did it himself anyway.
I wait for him to come back, and follow him to back to the Magic Camp. We get there, and I just watch him practice his magic tricks. He was doing a bunch of different types of tricks, like simple card ones, or straight up defying the laws of physics with making crap appear and disappear out of thin air.
Every second I watched him sitting on a chair. I just watched him and would be his assistant in case he needed one. He kept doing amazing tricks while I watched for around 2 hours. After that, I begin to doze off. It was only around 12 judging from the sun, but I was so tired. I just closed my eyes. My backpack was getting heavy, so I tossed it down. The sack was still on the backpack.
Harrison's P.O.V.
Welp, I don't know what to do now. She just fell asleep. I don't know why, but I started to get kind of tired as well.
What did I do? Why is she sleeping at noon? What happened to her?
Those questions endlessly cycled around my head as I went to my tent to sleep. I didn't have a tent partner, so I had pretty much all say to what was in the tent. My sleeping bag was right in the middle with all of my stuff scattered carefully everywhere.
I don't know why I felt the need to notice that. I was tired. I flopped onto my sleeping bag and fell asleep.
Y/N's P.O.V.
I wake up and notice that Harrison wasn't with me. Judging from the sun, it was around 3 by this time. I stand up from my seat and started looking for Harrison.
I walked around the Magic Camp and saw nothing. No trace of Harrison anywhere. I started walking outside of the area and onto other camps. No avail.
It was around 3:30 by this time, and I still couldn't find him. I start to get scared. I fear that he went missing and that he left.
I walk back to the Magic Camp to see Harrison picking stuff up and then setting the stuff down. It looked like he was looking for something.
I get pissed, but let it go. There could be a reasonable explanation as to why he just disappeared on me.
I walk over to him and tap his shoulder. He turns around to look at me as I fake pout. He smiles at me and turns around to face me better. "You look like a frog when you smile," I tell him.
It was true, and I giggled as Harrison pretended to act hurt. "Y/N, how could you say something so hurtful?".
I giggle and pat his head. He goes back to giving me his froggy smile. I ask him, "Where were you for the past half hour?".
"I was in my tent. I guess all of those magic tricks wore me down."
"Oh."
I guess that makes sense. Harrison looks up into the sky and grabs my arm. He looks into my eyes and tells me, "I gotta put all my stuff away real quick. I think it's gonna rain soon."
I stare up into the cloudless sky and ask, "How is it gonna rain soon? There aren't any signs of rain from a mile away."
"I can feel it!".
I sigh and tell him, "I'll help."
We put away all of Harrison's magic equipment and start walking to the Mess Hall. During the walk, I see clouds start to form in the sky. I felt a few drops of water from the newly formed clouds. It started to rain, but not too much.
