Eunbi had successfully tolerated two whole days of watching the stranger girl cling onto Yoongi because of the littlest of matters. To her, she looked like no less than a parasite. Every time Eunbi spared the couple a glance, she would find the girl— who was apparently named Juhui, as Bomin had briefed her— searching for reasons to stick by Yoongi's side. Minimal gestures were bearable, but the way Juhui was so open about her relationship and did not even care about others' comfort being hampered in the process, Eunbi would not be joking if she said that the girl was truly getting on her nerves.
However, after watching them both for a usually longer period of time— since she had no choice— Eunbi could not help but wonder what did Yoongi actually see in that girl at all. Team dinners were supposed to be specifically meant just for the co-workers, and not some outsider who was practically misusing the perks of being an officer's girlfriend.
"Seems like you have some beef with my sister even though you two have never talked... like ever?" Bomin spoke up, giving Eunbi a mild heart-attack for she was just too much immersed in her thoughts to care about the people in her surroundings.
Eunbi squinted her eyes at Bomin in response, urging him to clarify what he was trying to imply by that statement of his.
"I mean, you look at her with so much disgust... it won't be my fault if it just turns out to be a misconception of mine..." Bomin completed hesitantly, indecisive over his word usage.
To be honest, Bomin's observation skills had rendered Eunbi speechless. It was obvious however, since he was a cop. But even that consolation did not seem to calm her down. The clanking spoons against the dishes, the blunt thumps of glasses and tumblers produced by them being put back onto the tables rather recklessly, the incessant chatters from all the directions mixing up with one another, and Bomin's vague but suspicion-inducing circumspection, all of them were leading Eunbi to go bonkers. Even if it were a response from him out of his concern for his sister, Eunbi could not refrain herself from surmising that her intentions were no longer concealed.
That her plan went down in drain even before she could implement it properly.
"Your silence presents a much lucid answer than your words, you know." Bomin commented nonchalantly, gulping down a glass of water in a single go.
"It's not like that... It's just that I think I have seen her somewhere, that I've known her at some point of time." Eunbi lied, assuming that she would get away with it this one time.
But things do not work like that once lies get involved. One lie leads to another, and the chain goes on and on. It becomes a vicious cycle which lays trap for its own generator and pulls them in like a bog does, swallowing their whole sanity eventually.
"Is that so? You both should talk to each other sometime, the—"
"I'm sorry b—but I need to go," Eunbi paused when she noticed a surprised look on Bomin's face, which she tackled flawlessly by displaying a grin. Or so she thought.
Yoongi had also spotted the new recruit leaving her seat to head outside, following which he looked at Bomin— who was equally confused because of her sudden departure. Shrugging his thoughts away, he resumed his attention back to Juhui, who was babbling about all the random facts and stories that she had ever come across. Her such behavior was what had made Yoongi fall for her in the very first place.
Quite an amount of time had passed since Eunbi had left after giving that abrupt notice to Bomin, which compelled the latter to consider all the possibilities that might be responsible for her running so late. Swerving his head left and right, and every feasible direction from where Eunbi might come from, he unknowingly let out a low groan out of frustration. After bringing everyone's attention to himself because of his tensed expression, he was just about to ensure everyone that there was nothing to worry about that a sharp blast pierced through the restaurant.
"Everybody, get down! Take the cover of your tables! And please don't come out until I tell you to!" Yoongi yelled facing every corner of the restaurant consecutively, hoping that people listened to his instructions and thereby would not frenzy out or cause a stampede in place of it.
"The new girl! Bomin, where is the new girl? Has she come back?" Yoongi addressed Bomin, who was busy showing terrified people the way to a relatively safer place.
"No!" Bomin made it short and crisp, refocusing his concentration back on the citizens.
"Fuck!" Yoongi sucked in the cold air before muttering so under his breath, immediately leaving Juhui's side to go and look for Eunbi.
