"Do you like it, though? I asked them if they had a flower brooch since I'm aware of your inclination towards them. Though unfortunately, they didn't have one, so I had to settle with this butterfly at last." Yoongi feigned a sulk, earning an affectionate glance from Eunbi in return. Although she was completely immersed in checking out his little gift from back to front and upside-down, she had still managed to give the boy the attention that he was asking for.
"The fact that you even thought of buying this for me, means a lot to me, Yoongi." Eunbi let loose her adorable eye-smile to take over her otherwise persistent gloomy features. Watching the one who was the most important person to him right then, Yoongi could not restraint himself from smiling cheekily.
"Aren't you being dramatic? I mean, today's your birthday and if I had forgotten about it, who knows how disastrous would that have been for me?" Yoongi arched his eyebrows as he pressed his lips into a thin line, probably to keep the amusement handled.
Eunbi faked a smile so unrealistically that Yoongi shifted himself a bit away from her, fearing the possible wrath that could be unleashed upon him eventually. But surprisingly, the female ended up bursting into giggles, which undoubtedly eased his nerves to a considerable extent.
"I love you, Yoongi." She leaned herself towards Yoongi whilst still chuckling the same way, endearingly wrapping her arms around his neck. Baffled, the male could not utter a word, but made sure to reciprocate Eunbi's warm gesture by enveloping his arms around her waist as well.
Yoongi closed his eyes the moment Eunbi pulled him into a hug, providing him with the tranquility that he had always been longing for. No matter how hard the day would be on him, never had it been difficult for her to make him forget all his woes. As he fluttered his eyelids open, he realized that it was the same place where they had first shared their life histories with one another. Further drinking in the serene view, an urge erupted within him, regarding accepting Eunbi as the only one who could make him feel at home, after his parents had succumbed to that accident.
Yoongi could not deny the claim. It had really been such a way.
"I love you too, Eunbi." Yoongi whispered softly into Eunbi's ear, seamless love dripping from his confession.
Eunbi initially stayed flustered upon Yoongi's sudden admission of mutual love. But as time continued to slip away from her grip, she figured out that she should not hesitate anymore. It was, in fact, somewhat a dream come true for her. The one whom she had been spending every hour of her day— for an entire year— with, the one whom she had started to date casually for no one else belonging to her own age was present at the care home, had eventually become the one securing the largest portion of her heart. Although what she had expected the least amongst all this was Yoongi feeling the same way for her as well.
Eunbi pulled away and intensely stared into his eyes, swimming towards the depths that she could never reach. After a moment of awkward silence, she swore that she had found Yoongi further minimizing the distance between their faces.
Or was it an illusion? Was it because she had fixated her eyes at him for too long?
While she was busy scuffling with her inner contradictions, a pair of lips touched hers. That was the cue for her to leave behind all her apprehensions and get indulged in the dreamlike state that Yoongi had ushered her into. Moving their lips in sync as if they were accustomed to each other, both of them unknowingly smiled. Their kiss was not like one of those passionate first-love kinds, they were patient and considerate of each other. They knew that nothing in the world was stronger than their bond, and that they did not need to rush things.
Time always fleets by sneakily, but would it dare to do so in their case?
Obviously, no. At least that was what the two of them had thought.

THREE YEARS LATER
Yoongi had finally placed his first step into the direction of the accomplishment of his aim. He did not dream superficially, he was a practical person who knew the bounds of the present world. He never hoped of achieving something that was not worth his time and efforts. And hence, after completing his graduation in criminology, he was toiling day and night to crack the civil services exam. Amidst all this self-discovering phase of his life, a significant someone had begun to get erased from his mind.
Eunbi would, without skipping a day, earnestly wait for the care home's common telephone to ring up. Every time a call was made to the institution, she could not help but anticipate for Yoongi to be the voice on the other side. With having only that butterfly brooch which he had given to her, it was turning unbearable for Eunbi to wait for someone who paid no heed to her yearnings any longer.
How was she supposed to reminisce her time with Yoongi with just a brooch in her hand? How can she be expected not to feel miserable because of her condition? Three years had already passed with no signs of Yoongi coming from anywhere.
Until one day.
