"Well, I don't know if I should put it this way or not..." Eunbi fiddled with her fingers as she looked down hesitantly, genuine fear shrouding her face, "He was my neighbour and I just happened to be near his house at the wrong time. I—I witnessed him killing his own family, and like how we've always been taught in school to report crimes responsibly, I contacted the police station. He had a lovely family of a wife and two kids, I still don't get why in the world would he opt for such a measure. Nevertheless, the main point is that he somehow managed to figure out that I was the one who had snitched." Eunbi finished, shrugging her shoulders complacently.

"So you want to say that—"

"He may have chased me because of the same reason, yes." Eunbi nodded her head, assuring Yoongi that his theory was indeed correct.

"What a psycho." Yoongi scoffed in disbelief, his eyes becoming as round as a button.

Receiving such a response from Yoongi made Eunbi certain of him buying her little cooked-up story. Her brain worked wonders when put under pressure, she had realized it now. The fact that the incident that she recited was a total contrast to what had actually taken place, might lead Yoongi to lose his sanity, if he ever happened to know about the truth. Eunbi's manipulative skills had made sure though, that there was no way her cover would be blown so easily, let alone quickly.

The man whom Eunbi had framed seven years back, completely overlooking the anguish that he had to undergo due to losing his entire family in a jiffy, got wronged by her yet again. Even after a couple of years had passed since then, she did not seem to spare him. After all, he was the one who had dared to come back at her. Did he really deserve a lenient Eunbi, then?

🚨

"Two days back, Technician Nam from our team got physically assaulted by an escaped prisoner. Though, I would like to make it clear that his state isn't known yet. He had been charged with the murder of his family some years back, and there's no way a first degree criminal would be pardoned just like that. We've to find out which prison did he belong to— Scratch that, we need to identify and catch him first." Yoongi completed as he halted his presentation, placing the stylus back on the table whilst grabbing a chair for himself.

"But why would he attack Technician Nam? She isn't in the violent crimes team anyway." Bomin quizzed, his brows getting knitted into one.

Even a month had not passed of the girl joining their station that she had already been gravely injured twice. Bomin could bet on his favorite TV show that she must not even have visited her workplace for a whole week without any interruption.

"They were acquaintances in the past, apparently." Yoongi answered, to which Bomin bobbed his head in an affirmative manner.

"Then—" Bomin started, but cut himself off in an instant when he figured that a rephrased question would pose his view as more precise, "Shouldn't she be aware of his personal information, then? We don't need to dig deeper, we just need his name since Technician Nam must be aware of his appearance too? Honestly, include her in the meeting. It would make the task much easier." Bomin suggested, to which everyone surprisingly agreed.

"She was attacked with a knife, Lieutenant Go. You can't expect a person who got stabbed just two days back to return to her work as if nothing ever had happened in the first place." Yoongi argued, obliviously turning his tone into an irritated one. Not until everyone's shocked faces got absorbed by Yoongi did he grasp that he indeed went overboard.

"Apologies for the misdemeanor. I'll ask Miss Nam to return to the station as soon as possible. Meeting dismissed." Yoongi waved his hand to substantiate his words before turning his face to the wall as he ran a hand through his hair. Letting out a frustrated sigh, he kicked the wall with all his force. However, the arduous pain that eventually rose from his toes made him regret his action almost immediately.

🚨

"Why don't they understand that she won't be here for another week? Instead of slacking off like this," Yoongi lifted his head to shift his vision from the documents awaiting him, to the buzzing milieu that started right outside his office. Shaking his head in disappointment, he tore away his gaze from the glass panel that allowed him to take a quick look of the station, back to the documents that laid before him, "they could've obtained a lead or whatsoever. How am I supposed to lead them when they don't want to detach themselves from those darned seats of thei—"

A series of soft knocks made Yoongi's breath hitch, since the sound dropped into his ears out of nowhere. But when the door went ajar, the figure that revealed itself belonged to the one whom Yoongi had been implicitly thinking about all this while. With a gracious smile adorning her face, Eunbi approached the man with a huge box, causing him to become helplessly curious.

"Seeing you after a week and a half feels exceptionally good— Er, I missed coming to work, sir." Eunbi wasted no time in rectifying her words, confusing Yoongi as to why the female was in such a hurry.

"I see you've brought something for me," Yoongi playfully wore a lopsided smile, amusing Eunbi as expected, "it is for me, right? Also, how are you? Do you feel better now?" Yoongi's expression had now become the polar opposite of his previous one, as it exhibited pure concern.

"Yes, I'm doing relatively fine. Although it still hurts, it's somewhat manageable now. And yes, I've brought my specialty— chocochip butter cookies for you. Please accept it as a token of gratitude. You've done so much for me, sir." Eunbi cracked a pleasing smile, eventually appeasing Yoongi's apprehensions too.

However, all this while, only Yoongi knew how badly he was trying not to overreact and ruin the moment. Only he knew how much of a triggering memory those cookies were to him.
