Sat at the grill, I picked at my chips and burger like I had been doing for the passed hour. I had text Damon to meet me there so we could I talk. Hopefully without being interrupted.
"Penny for your thoughts?" I looked up to see Matt in his work gear and smiling down at me.
"Oh hey." I smiled, dropping the chip I had been dipping into sauce way too much, "it's nothing. Just waiting on Damon."
"What is it with you and him?" He sighed and sat down next to me, "Liv, he's no good. He's a vampire" Matt whispered, making sure others didn't hear, "and a bad one at that. He drinks blood straight from the vein and doesn't give a crap who he hurts."
"That's not the Damon I see." I started him dead in the eyes, knowing what he said was true but there was a side no one else seemed to see. Underneath it I could tell he was good. Maybe he was hurting, lashing out. But the way he acted when he thinks no one is watching.... it's different. His face drops and his eyes glaze over, like he's thinking about everything and wondering what to do next. I see the concern in his body language when I talk about my life. I see how he cares. I guess no one else sees these little moments.
And just like that, Damon entered the grill in his dark jeans and leather jacket. Looking fine as ever. He smirked as he walked over, sitting opposite, "evening princess" he looked at me and winked, "oh, and hi Olivia."
"Very funny" Matt rolled his eyes as I tried to contain my laugh.
"So, you wanted to talk?" Damon frowned, looking over to Matt like he was asking why he was here.
"Yeah, erm, can you give us a moment please Matt?" I smiled at my cousin. He sighed and wondered off.
"Bottle of beer whenever you're free." Damon smiled before Matt walked too far out of ear shot. He turned back to me, leaned back on his chair and smirked. "So....?"
"Yeah. So...." I took a deep breath in, trying to figure out the words, "the reason I asked you hear is -"
But I was cut off by Damon's phone ringing. He picked it up and looked at the screen, "ah, it's Elena."
"You gonna get it?" I snapped, trying to hide my frustration. It's like she knows when I'm having a moment with either of the Salvatore Brothers.
"Er...." he paused, looking down at his phone as it rang. "Yeah.... I think I will." Just as he went to answer I screamed under my breath in frustration. "Whoa. What's that about?"
"Why is it always Elena!?!" I finally snapped at him. "No matter what, everyone drops everything for her! What hold does she have over all the men in this town!? You, Stefan, Tyler, Matt.... no matter what, you guys drop everything and go running to her! What makes her so special!?"
Without really thinking I imagined her in a bath and holding her head underwater, her arms and legs thrashing, water going everywhere until she just stopped. I released my hand from her head and could see her lifeless body in the water, her head still underwater. I smirked to myself before a wave of regret washed over me and I opened my eyes to see I was still at the grill with Damon and Matt had rejoined.
"Liv, you ok? What's up?" Matt asked, moving closer on his knee and taking my hand.
"I saw.... I don't...." I stuttered, unsure if I had just imagined it or....
"What?" Matt asked, pulling my hand so I looked at him.
I starred at him, fear in his eyes, "Elena. I saw her drown at home." I couldn't tell them what I actually saw....right?
Damon jumped up and ran out the grill with Matt close behind, holding my hand and pulling me along with him. We got to Elenas house, Damon banged on the door but no one answered. He kicked it down and ran upstairs.
Matt and I followed, reaching her room as Damon dragged her out the bath. She was coughing and spluttering water out as she fell to the floor. I found a towel and threw it over to them. Damon wrapped it around her, holding her close as she shook uncontrollably.
After a few moments she finally had enough energy to speak, "I was just on my bed trying to ring you. And then I had this urge to get in the bath. When I got in I felt like a hand push me under and I couldn't get up."
"Olivia saw it." Damon said. Elena looked right at me.
Or made it happen?
"I'm not sure how, but I think it's something to do with that ring." Damon added
"Thank you Olivia. I think you saved me." Elena half smiled. Damon still next to her on the floor, rubbing her arms to calm her down.
They look so cosy. Why do all the boys go goo-goo over Elena!?
"Yeah well..." I looked round at the boys before back at Elena, wrapped in a towel, water dripping off the strands of hair, "you owe me." I snapped and walked out the house.
I made it down the road and found a bench. I sat down and thought about what just happened..... Did I imagine it happening and then make it happen? Or was it going to happen and I saw it happening? I'm not sure I wanted to know the answer.
