Tyler and Jeremy were already at the Grill when we arrived. I wasn't too sure how to be around the three of them, I'm not too sure Matt gave Tyler the heads up that I knew about him. If he had, no one brought it up.
The boys played some pool while I looked around the place at everyone. Everyone had someone. There wasn't one person alone. Except me. I could see parents chatting with their children; laughing and serious talks. Probably talking about college and relationships. And life. And how apple pie everything's gonna be. Parents that actually care about their kids. I saw couples holding hands and sharing fries. Friends hanging out. There was so much of life that I had missed out on and no one really knew.
"Earth to Olivia."
A hand waved in front of my face, snapping me back to the boys.
"Oh. Sorry. I spaced" I smiled up at Tyler who was sat next to me.
"I could see that" he laughed as he took a sip of his drink, "those two are having a game. Thought I'd come see how you were doing."
I nodded slowly, "yeah. Im....ok" even I didn't believe what I said.
Tyler furrowed his brow but then smiled, "you're an awful liar." I just shrugged, not knowing what to say. "Damon called." I shot you to look at Tyler, "thought that would get your attention" he laughed at my reaction, "he said he told you" he paused for a moment, waiting for me to say something? "About me?"
"Oh. Right. Yeah. Erm, yeah." I laughed, not knowing what to say. I had never felt so awkward. I had been awkward and uncomfortable before, but that was just round a normal guy. He's a werewolf-vampire! That can't be a good mix, right?
"I'm fine with you knowing. But, just don't go telling everyone? People aren't exactly jumping at the chance to meet a vampire, so I doubt they want werewolf mixed in too." He whispered, leaning in close.
"No. I wouldn't say anything. I don't know anyone other than this little group here anyway." I smiled as Tyler smiled back
"Good." He jumped up and put his hand on, "come on. Let's play doubles."
I shook my head in response, "I can't play. I don't know how."
"That's fine" he took my hand that was resting on the table, linking his fingers with mine, "you can be on Jeremys team." He smiled as he pulled me to the table.
"Hey!" Jeremy protested as Matt passed me a cue.
The boys laughed as we started a game. They of course we're going easy on me, trying to make sure it didn't look like I sucked. But I did. I knew I did.
"Come here." Jeremy put his cue down and stood with me, "place your hand here." He moved my left hand to the front of the cue, "now this one here." My right further down. "And now lean." He placed his hand on my back, showing me how far to go. He was so close I could feel his breath against my cheek, his body leaning into mine, "ok. Now, gently move the cue back with you right, resting it on your left....and hit the ball." I did as he said and I actually managed to pot a ball!
I jumped up in excitement and the boys clapped me, "thank you very much!" I bowed as we laughed. It was the first ball I had actually potted. I stood up and looked over to the bar. Damon had at some point came in. My smile faded as Matt took his go, "I'm gonna quit while I'm ahead." I put my cue back on the rack, "drink?" I asked the boys and they all nodded.
I wondered over to the bar and stood next to Damon. "Four more please." I smiled at the bartender.
"I'll get them." Damon motioned to the bartender and he nodded
"I can get them myself, thank you though."
"No. I will. To say sorry." He picked up his own glass of whatever alcohol he had.
It started to make me feel uneasy how much he drank. The more I thought about it the more my heart pounded and my hands sweated.
"I don't think a glass of lemonade is really gonna make up for the fact you bit me." I whispered, making sure people around didn't hear.
"You're right. How about dinner?" He finally looked at me, waiting for my response.
I thought about it. Truly I did. But I already knew the answer, "no." I shook my head as the drinks came over, I passed over my card and Damon remained quiet. Once I got my card back I picked up the tray and turned to leave, but before I did, "I couldn't be with anyone like you. And not because of the V word." I sighed and walked back over to the boys. They all took their drinks and chatted, trying to include me in their conversation. But it wasn't working. I kept looking over to Damon, sat there alone. He took four more shots before throwing the shot glass against the wall, everyone stared even the boys, and stormed out.
"Wonder what upset him?" Matt asked as the four of us watched Damon leave.
"Yeah," Tyler looked over to me, "I wonder."
