Mattia pov

" come on mrs Garcia, just like 10 more minutes?" I begged her.

" Mattia Polibio, you better leave right now unless you want another detention on your first week back to school," she said to me sternly.

Another?

I don't remember already having one but that threat was enough to put me off, " fine," I said walking away from her and up to the others, " looks like we're going home,"

" I don't know about you but I'm not going home," Roshaun said, " some other senior is having a party at their house, y'all wanna go?"

I looked over at Jordon and she shook her head, " sorry guys, I gotta head home. I got a curfew," she said,which was true. Her dad said if she wasn't home before 8 he was going to file a missing persons report. That was a little crazy, I know but it's Jordan's dad so I'm not surprised, " you can go if you want," she told me, " I can walk myself home,"

I shook my head, there was no way I was going to let her walk alone in the dark. " nah, My mom wanted me home early anyway," I lied.

We waved goodbye to the rest of them, they got a lift to the party and Jordon and I walked off home.

She held her shoulders and I noticed her shiver a little , " you sure you don't my jacket? It's pretty cold," I asked her.

She shook her head, " no, I'm good,"

" so what'd you think? Was it as shitty as you thought it was gonna be?" I asked her. I don't know about her but it's probably the best dance I've been to in my entire life.

And It was all because of her.

It's crazy how for the whole night I couldn't get my mind off her, not once.

She nodded smiling, " yep. It's exactly as I imagined it," she told me, " and I loved it,"

I laughed shaking my head, " Did you get some good pics with your Polaroid?"

She nodded," yep, they'll fit in pretty well with all the hospital pics don't you think?" She asked jokingly and I nodded.

We got to her house and I walked her up to the door, " thanks for taking me to the dance Mattia,"

" it was nothing, I know how badly you've always wanted to go to one." I said to her, " I wanna thank you though, I don't think I would've had as much fun if you weren't there," she smiled and I could feel myself getting really nervous for some reason. I felt like this moment was building up to something and I had to make a quick choice on whether I should go for it or not.

I was standing a little close to her and she was quite close to me, " yeah it was a pretty interesting night. The highlight definitely had to be when Robert pantsed that guy," she said laughing and I laughed too.

I slowly stopped laughing and I admired how adorable she looked when she laughed. She sounded like a whale on helium but it was honestly the cutest laugh I've ever heard.

When she caught me watching her laugh she stopped too and we both just stared into each other's eyes.

I don't think I've ever seen a more distinctive pair, they were so enticing and drew me in completely. My gaze flickered down to her lips for a second and it was then I realised how badly I wanted to kiss her.

But I couldn't do that.

" I should probably get going," I said to her. I felt kinda disappointed in myself because it wasn't like me to hold back from something like this. I was a 'live in the moment' type of person but for some reason I was scared to kiss her, I didn't wanna mess with what we already had.
