Jordon pov
" I didn't know you were coming over today," Mattia's mom said when I knocked on her front door, " Mattia's not back from school yet so you'll have to wait a while," she told me.
" I don't mind," I said to her and I followed her into the kitchen. It looked like she was cooking something, " wow, it smells good in here. You need help with anything?"
I took my polaroid off from around my neck and put it on the dining table. Mattia said he was going out with the boys today. He told me he wanted me to come with them. I thought I could bring my camera along becasue I haven't used it in a while.
She smiled and shook her head, " no it's ok Jordon, you just sit down and relax,"
" are you sure, I don't mind?" I insisted.
" no honey it's ok, it's not right to make guest do any work" she said.
I snorted and stood next to her, " come on, I've been round here so often I don't think I count as a guest anymore. This place is like a second home to me," I told her shrugging. Well third if you count the hospital.
She smiled and I looked at her hopefully, " fine, you can chop some of those vegetables," she said pointing at some in a basket.
I started washing them and took out a knife and cutting Board. I peeled someone of them before I started to cut and chop them up.
I noticed she was looking at me so I looked back at her, " what, am I doing it wrong?" I asked her.
She smiled and shook her head, " no it's not that. It's just surprises me how different you are to mattia's previous girlfriends. I don't think any of them even talked to me much, let alone helped me cook,"
I shrugged, " yeah, Mattia's taste in girls was absolutely terrible wasn't it?"
She laughed a little and nodded, " yes it was. Thank god he finally had some sense knocked into him," she said whilst stirring something in the pot.
I blushed a little and tried hiding my face. It went a little quiet after that which was weird because I've never found it hard to talk to his mom. It was always so easy but now I felt like I had to watch what I said because I was his girlfriend now.
" you can put those in this pan," she said pointing at it, and I emptied the vegetables into it. After a while everything seemed to be done and mattia's mom looked pretty satisfied with it all, " you hungry?" She asked me.
I shook my head, " not really no,"
She checked the time, " when was the last time you ate?" She asked. I looked at the time and realised it's been almost 3hrs." Jordon?" She questioned sternly and she was tapping her finger on the counter, impatiently.
" I swear it wasn't that long ago. I'm really not that hungry," I reassured her.
She shook her head, " I know you have to eat regularly.Mattia always goes on about it." That made me smile a little bit, but I felt like it was the wrong time to think about how cute Mattia was. She lifted the pan lid and started taking out some food for me, " come on just a little bit?"
I shook my head, " please don't, I seriously can't-"
She lifted a spoon to my face, " Jordon come, eat it right now!"
I carried on refusing, " mom seriously I don't-" I stopped talking when I realised I called her mom. I felt so embarrassed right now and I hoped maybe she didn't realise but she did.
She put the spoon down and looked at me a little taken aback. It went extremely quiet and I'm pretty sure my face was as red as a tomato right now.
" I'm sorry, I didn't mean to call you that it just slipped-"
" hey, hey it's ok," she said smiling and she stopped my rambling, " I don't mind it."
" really?" I asked because I felt like she'd be uncomfortable with it.
She shook her head, " I guess you're around here so often it'd make sense if you just called me mom anyway, you're like my third child," she said smiling, and I laughed a little, "Plus it's probably less of a mouth full compared to mrs polibio,"
She probably didn't think of it as such a big deal but it honestly made my day, being able to call someone mom again. I felt amazing knowing that I had someone in my life that I could look to as a mother.
She held the spoon up to my mouth again and I laughed a little. This time I didn't argue with her and took a bite, and my god did it taste good.
I ate a little more and it wasn't long before Gian and Mattia came back from school. They were both already arguing before they even came through the front door.
Mattia's expressions changed when he saw me and he walked up to me, smiling brightly, " hey, I didn't know you were already here," he pulled me to him and gave me a small kiss.
Gian made a retching noise, " gross," he said loudly.
I laughed and Mattia rolled his eyes at him and went down to his room to freshen up.
" out of all the boys in the world you had to pick Mattia didn't you, what do see in him Jordon?" Gian asked me. His mother heard what he said and she pulled at his ear dragging him to the kitchen with her. He winced in pain and started begging her to let him go.
I zoned out a little thinking about his question.
I saw a lot in Mattia. I saw more in him than i did in myself, and I think if it weren't for him I wouldn't be as happy as I am now.
He was the only thing keeping me going at this point. Because seeing how hopeful he is made me feel hopeful too, and it made me believe that I could overcome this again. It wasn't going to be easy but with him by my side it sure was going to be way better.
