"I'm so excited to spend the weekend on Ember Island!" Ty Lee said happily. "It's going to be great to hang out on the beach and do nothing!"

"Doing nothing is a waste of time." Zuko scowled. One hand in mine the other on the railing of the ship. "We're being sent away on a forced vacation. I feel like a child."

"Lighten up. So Dad wants to meet with his advisers alone, without anyone else around. Don't take it personally." Azula said.

" Doesn't your family have a house on Ember Island?" Ty Lee asked.

"We used to come every summer when we were kids," Azula answered.

"That must have been fun!" Ty Lee smiled.

"That was a long time ago." Zuko looked off into the distance.

We got to the beach and were greeted by the old ladies, Lo and Li.

"Welcome to ember Island kids!" They took us to their small beach house.

"It smells like old lady in here," Zuko grumbled. I stifled a laugh.

"Gee I wonder why." Mai rolled her eyes.

"Who are these two beautiful women?" Ty Lee asked pointing to a painting of two young women.

"Can't you tell?" One of the old ladies said.

"It's Lo and me." "It's Li and me." They said at the same time replicating the pose in the painting. Zuko gagged. I laughed at him.

They showed us to our rooms. Ty Lee and Mai were sharing. Azula insisted on having her own room so that left me and Zuko in a room together. There were two beds across from each other. We put our bags away and headed down.

"We know you're upset that you were forced to come here this weekend," Li said.

"But Ember Island is a magical place. Keep an open mind."  Lo continued.

"Give it a chance," Li added.

"And it can help you understand yourself and each other." The said in unison,

" The beach has a special way..." One of them said.

"...of smoothing even the most ragged edges." The other said.

"Time to hit the beach!" They ripped off their robes reviling their swimsuits. I covered Zuko's eyes for him.

We went back stairs to get dressed. I pulled out my swimsuit.

"I'm gonna get dressed. Cover your eyes," I took his hand and put it over his face and got into my bikini and undid my hair. "Done!" He uncovered his eyes and stared at me. "What?" I looked in the mirror to see if I put it on backward or something.  "I'm I wearing it wrong?"

"No you're...perfect," He looked me up and down. I blushed. "Ok, my turn." I covered my eyes. After a bit, I felt his lips on mine. I opened my eyes in shock then melted into the kiss. He pulled away. "Let's get going," He took my hand and we walked to the beach with Azula, Ty Lee, and Mai who was hiding under an umbrella.

Ty Lee was flirting with some boys, and Azula and Mai were sulking about it. Zuko and I were just sitting on my towel together.

"Here, this is for you," He handed me a beautiful shell.

"Thank you, Prince Zuko," I smiled and kissed him on the cheek.

He went to do something. I watch as more boys funded over Ty Lee. She beamed at me and gave her a small wave. I laughed as one of them tried to trip the other. Zuko came back with two ice cream cones.

"I thought, since it's so hot ... here," He accidentally dropped it on my leg. "Sorry!" He looked embarrassed.

I laughed, "Very refreshing," I clean myself off. "It's ok Zuko," He offered me his but refused, "We can share!" I smiled at him and he smiled back at me.

"Hey, beach bums, we're playing next," Azula said referring to a volleyball game. "Ty Lee, get over here, now!"

Zuko threw off his shirt. Damn. We demolished the other team. Azula even lit the net on fire. Ty Lee, Mai, and I got invited to a party. They reluctantly let Zuko and Azula come too.

----------------------------

"Why didn't you tell those guys who we were?" Zuko asked Azula well we sat around the dinner table.

"I guess I was intrigued. I'm so used to people worshiping us." Azula replied.

"They should." Ty Lee said as she ate.

"Yes, I know, and I love it. But, for once, I just wanted to see how people would treat us if they didn't know who we were." Azula said.

"Like waves washing away the footprints on the sand, Ember Island gives everyone a clean slate." Li looked up at us.

"Ember Island reveals the true you," Lo said.

They both stood up and clapped, "To the party!" We all got out of swimsuits and got ready. We arrived at sunset.

"Um ... You're a little early. No one's here yet." Chan said as he opened the door.

"I heard you telling someone you'd be partying from dusk 'till dawn. It's dusk, so we're here." Azula said.

"But that's just an expression." Chan looked confused. I didn't pay attention to the rest of the conversation. We walked in and chan was saying something about not messing anything up.

"Hey! First ones here, huh?" Ruon-Jian asked us.

Zuko scoffed, "He liked he's so great," He looked over to me, "Well, what do you think of him?"

I shrugged, "I don't have any opinion about him. I don't know him,"

"You like him, don't you?" He asked acusingly. I sighed and went to sit down. He sat beside me and pouted. More people showed up and the party. One guy smiled at me and Zuko immediately but his arm around my shoulder and scowled.

"I'm hungry," I sighed.

"I'll get you some food," He stood up and walked over to the food table. Ruon-Jian came over to talk to me.

"Hey, watch it! That food was for my girlfriend!" Zuko shouted from across the room. He saw Ruon-Jian and ran over and pushed him out of the way. "Stop talking to my girlfriend!"

"Relax. It's just a party." Ruon-Jian said. Zuko shoved him into a vase.

"Zuko, what is wrong with you?" I asked shocked.

"What's wrong with me?" He asked sarcastically.

"Your temper is out of control. You blow up over every little thing. You're so impatient and hotheaded and angry," I poked him in the chest.

"Well, at least I say something about it, as opposed to you. You just pretend that you're fine when I know you hate everything about this place!"  He shouted.

I turned away, "It's over, Zuko. We're done," I stormed out and ran to the beach house. No one else was there. I found a piece of paper and some ink. I wrote a long letter to Zuko. I took off my necklace and took out the letter inside and replaced it with the new tear-stained one. I put it on Zuko's bed. I packed my bag and walked to the beach. I found a small boat and started to paddle to the mainland.

It's not just his temper that made me leave. It's guilt, for not trying to find my family. It's also what Azula told me. Zuko lied to me over and over again. I have to leave. I have no choice.
