*fluff warning lol 💗

A few months later

I was still living with my parents. I loved getting to see all the people and places from my childhood. Without the steep taxes from the fire nation, our village is much more healthy. Getting engaged made it even harder to be away from Zuko. I love being with my family but Zuko is my family too now.

I sat at the edge of my bed staring down at my engagement ring I'm an independent woman and everything but I feel like apart of me is missing. I was dragged away from my thoughts by my mom entering my room.

"Dinner is almost ready," She looked at me sadly for a moment, "Y/n... I know how your feeling,"

I looked up at her, "Really?"

She sat down next to me and put her hand on mine, "When your father was in jail I spent every day wondering if was ok. It was even worse when my baby girl was taken away. I didn't even know where they took you. That was the hardest day of my life. When I saw you for the first time in 10 years you were wounded and unconscious. But you were alive. For so many years I wasn't even sure of that. And you grew up to be a kind, strong, beautiful, young woman. To be honest, I'm still a little in shock that my daughter is marrying the fire lord," He laughed lightly.

I leaned my head on her shoulder, "I love you, mom,"

Zuko's pov

Life is harder when Y/n Isn't with me. I miss her so much it's killing me. But there's no way I'd ask her to come home early. I've always felt partially responsible for her capture even though it didn't have anything to do with me.

I walked into my room forgetting to close my door. I walked over to my dresser and picked up the portrait of the two of us. She is so beautiful. Everything about her is perfect. Her hair, her eyes, her smile, her face not burdened by the scars or afflictions of the last 100 years of war. I ran my fingers over the frame.

"I'm so alone without you," I said the painting of her.

"You're not alone, Zuko," My favorite voice said from the doorway. My head snapped up at the sound.

"Y/n! You weren't supposed to be here for another couple of months!" I stood up and rushed over to her.

"I thought you'd be happier to see me," She smirked.

"Trust me I couldn't be happier. I'm just surprised. I-" She cut me off with a kiss. The familiar feeling sent butterflies to my stomach.  I pulled her closer to me, deepening the kiss. I have spent months longing for this moment. For the feeling of being complete. Y/n has been in my life for as long as I can remember. She was one of the few people who genuinely cared about me. Even when I was lost she was there for me.

We pulled out of the kiss. We walked out to the turtle duck pound. I held her hand the whole way there. I didn't want to let go. I couldn't. She was here and that's all I needed. As we passed through the garden she picked a flower.

"Zuko?"

I turned at the sound of her voice, "Yes, Y/n?" She reached up and placed the flower behind my ear.

She smiled up at me. Her eyes seemed to glisten as she looked at me, "You look beautiful, my prince,"  I blushed.

"I'm nothing compared to you, my princess to be," I meant what I said. I leaned down and placed a soft kiss on her forehead, "I am so deeply in love with you, Y/n,"

"I feel the same way, Zuko," She looked down at our intertwined hands.

"Marry me," I said.

"Zuko, we're already engaged," She laughed.

"No. I mean tonight. I want you to be my wife, now, I can't wait anymore," I brought our hands up to her face. Her green eyes widened.

"Z- Zuko! We can't get married!" She protested.

"Why? The grand sage can officiate! We can do it right here beside the turtle duck pond! Please?" I begged.

She thought for a second, "I- what about my parents? What about the Gaang? YOUR UNCLE!? They will kill us if we get married without them!"

"Fine! We get them here. Will be married within a week! They can take Appa!" I urged.

"You know what? Yes! Let's do it! Let's get married!" She beamed. I picked her up and spun her around. She laughed, "Let's send those invitations then!"

Y/n's pov

The day of the wedding!

The ceremony was about to start. Everything was very rushed but having the whole castle staff to help made it much easier. I looked at myself in the mirror. I wore the same wedding dress worn at the wedding of avatar Ruko and Ta min, Zuko's grandfather and grandmother on his mom's side. It was beautiful. I was beautiful. I took a deep breath and turned to face my four bridesmaids and mother.

"Wow! You look gorgeous, Y/n!" Ty Lee cheered.

"Absolutely stunning!" Katara agreed.

"Radiant," Suki chimed in.

"I don't know what you look like but I can tell you they're telling the truth," Toph added, making us all laugh.

"You ready, y/n?" My mother asked.

"I don't think I've been more ready for anything in my life," I smiled.

The door opened revealing a maid, "The ceremony is starting, your highness,"

------------------------------------

I stood next to my father right outside the garden. The music swelled telling us it was our queue to enter. We linked arms and stepped through the archway. I felt every eye on me. It was a minimal ceremony, but it still made me nervous.

The courtyard and pond were littered with flickering candlelight. As I made my way down the aisle I heard sniffles from the crowd, most predominately coming from Sokka. But My eyes were fixed on the man in front of me, Zuko.

Once I stood in front of him our hands intertwined, I met his beautiful golden eyes, which sparkled with tears. I got lost in them as the grand sage went on.

When the time for vows came I went first, "When I came to the fire nation as a young girl I expected to hate every bit of it. But I could never hate you. You showed me kindness and friendship that eventually turned into love. A love that is both unbreakable and unignorable. For many years I tried to tell myself that it was nothing more than a crush. I was the servant girl who was hopelessly in love with the prince. But here I am before you, ready to spend each moment by your side. I will love you until the day I die and beyond that," A tear ran down my cheek as I poured out my soul before him.

He took a deep breath and began, "Y/n, you are as beautiful and elegant as a flower and as strong and brave as the mightiest lion turtle. I've loved you since I first laid eyes on you and have only fallen deeper and deeper in love with you. The love I feel when I simply hear you say my name is enough to make me want to sing. You consume my mind and heart with your smile. Even in the darkest times in my life, you stood as a light to guide me. A loving hand to steer me in the right direction. I loved you then, I love you now, and I will love you forevermore," Our lips connected. Fireworks sent through my body at the sensation. Very one cheered as we walked back down the aisle side by side. I beamed up at him as petals fell around us. He looked down at me. My husband.

A/n

Zuzu is your Hubby now!!!

I know Y/n is only 16 but in the avatar universe that's a normal marrying age (example: Princess Yue)
