CAMILLA'S P.O.V
"Ahhh." Billie jumped up and down. "It's so cold."
I laughed and pulled my jacket off, giving it to her. "I told you. We're not in California anymore."
"I was trying to look good, dude. I'm not tryna look like a fucking hobo."
"You could wear a garbage bag and not look like a hobo, Billie."
"Are you saying that I should wear a garbage bag?"
I laughed. "If it would make you happy, Bil."
She groaned. "Why is that your answer to everything?"
"Because that's what's important."
"Imagine being a good person."
"Shut up." I rolled my eyes and checked the time on my phone. "Callie should be home soon."
-
I opened the back door, Billie following close behind.
"Pardon me, are you Aaron Burr, sir?" Callie pointed at Aracely.
"That depends," Aracely replied. "Who's asking?"
"Oh, sure, sir. I'm Alexander Hamilton, I'm at your service, sir. I have been looking for you."
"I'm getting nervous."
Oh. Hamilton. Why was I not surprised? Of course, they were re-enacting Hamilton together.
"Sir, I heard your name at Princeton. I was seeking an accelerated course of study when I got sort of out of sorts with a buddy of yours. I may have punched him, it's a blur, sir. He handles the financials?"
"What's going on?" Billie asked.
"You punched the bursar?" Aracely gave her a confused look.
"It's Hamilton, Billie." I shook my head. "Just smile and wave."
"Oh."
"God." I shook my head. "I leave for a month and this is what I come back to? What are you guys doing?"
"Camilla!" Callie hugged me. "You didn't tell me you made it yet."
"She tends to do that a lot," Billie said and I laughed, shrugging.
"Yeah."
"So you're 16?" Billie raised her eyebrows.
"Yep."
"Are you getting your driver's license soon?"
I laughed. "She can't even fucking walk in a straight line. How the hell is she gonna get her driver's license? They're gonna think she's intoxicated."
"Shut up. You're not funny." Callie rolled her eyes.
"Oh, I'm hilarious."
"She is." Billie nodded.
Callie scoffed. "Go home. I hate both of you."
"That wasn't a very nice thing to say, Callie." I shook my head.
"You're not a very nice thing to look at but we can't all be winners, Camilla." She shrugged.
"I should not have come back. I don't even like you."
"Whatever."
"Alright. Come on. Let's get this over with." Alexis waved her hand at us, telling us to come into the kitchen and we all obliged.
She lit the candles on the cake and I leaned against the kitchen counter beside Billie as we all sang "Happy Birthday" to Callie. She waited for us to stop and then blew out the candles.
"And many moreee!" Dad yelled. Of course, he had to but in with his obnoxious self.
"But probably not very many more since you're getting your driver's license soon." I inhaled sharply through my teeth, shaking my head as I pulled the candles out of the cake.
"Leave her alone." Billie laughed.
"She's probably right," Aracely admitted.
"That's why I like her more than you." I smiled.
-
"I'm gonna cry," Billie said as she held Holden's tiny hand. "He's so cute. I want a baby. Let's just kidnap him."
"You don't even have time for a baby." I laughed.
"I'll make time. Just get me one for Christmas."
"That's exactly why I am scared for your future children if you ever have any." I shook my head.
"Hey! Our future children." She pointed a stern finger at me. "Don't talk about them like that."
I scoffed. "We will not be having any kids. They'll be your psycho kids."
"Well, when we get married—"
"And who said I'm marrying your crazy ass."
"Me. You most definitely are because you love me and you would probably die without me."
There she was. Cocky ass. God, I missed it.
"Why are you smiling like that? You know it's true, don't you?"
"I just really love you." I laughed.
"Enough to marry me?" She smirked.
"I don't know about that. I don't think you'd ever be brave enough to propose."
"No? I'll do it right now."
"No, you won't."
"Not right now. But I'm going to. And you're probably gonna cry and get all emotional and obviously say yes—" She nodded.
"No. I will not."
"Listen, babe. Denial is unhealthy." She grabbed my hand and kissed it. "We don't need to argue about it because we both know the truth."
"Exactly. That you are a little scaredy-cat and it's never happening."
She wrapped her arms around me and pulled me onto her lap. "You know what would be great?"
"What?"
She smiled and kissed my nose. "If you would shut the fuck up."
"Love you too, Bil." I rolled my eyes.
