LOVING FROM AFAR...

CHAPTER 41 : DINNER

GABRIEL POV

I studied myself on the mirror. I want this night to be perfect. I want to make a good impression and shoe Catherine I deserve her. Fixing my red polo shirt sleeve match with my black maong pants I am ready. Even a bit of me was nervous in thinking what will happened, what would I say and how would I act..I don't have an idea. Glimpsing on my clock, 2 hours before 7 but being early is what my priority now. I got my phone and ready myself to leave. But before I could touch my knob the door bell rings.

"Ash ...its not a right time."

She looks disoriented, I can tell. Her eyes are red and puffy and her hair is messy.

"A date..isn't it?"

She asked showing me her drawn smile.

"Yes.Dinner at her house.."

"I see."

I stared at her for a moment,  wanting to know what she's up to.

"I'm in a hurry..Im sorry.""

"Yeah..of course."

she stoop aside and let me pass. I know there's something  wrong and the way she act telling it.

"I gotta go.."

"Wait.."

she called.

"I wanna let you know that I'm going to wait. In case that girl will leave you."

It's a statement and it sounds like so confident about it. I want to shout at her and make her understand that  Kath will not going to do that to me. That she's not like her that they are not the same. I chose  to ignore her and walk straight to the elevator without saying anything.

I pulled over in front of their house.  I cope myself for a minuted before I get out on my car and push the door bell. Kath opened it smiling but somehow I sense something is wrong. She was pale, her eyes looks tired and she didn't say anything but a Hi.

I feel nervous to say something, to ask so instead I copied her. She lead me to the living room and the silence between us is like a frozen ice . I wished I could do something about it.

"Tita just doing the final touch.."

She said as she sat to the couch opposite to me. I miss her so much and seeing she was keeping her distance at me hurts. Sa bawat tingin ko sa kanya tumitingin siya palayo.

"you seems so pale..something wrong?"

lakas loob kong tanong. Ngumiti lang siya and shook her head.

"I'm fine."

Then silence covered again until Tita Laura save the situation.

We head to the dining. She help me put food on my plate and after we all started eating Tita begun the conversation. She asked me about my parents,my school and where I will be going to College.

Im glad to say Mom and Dad coping again. Business already starting and next month they were coming back to settle me. I want to take Law and I'll push it though. Ateneo is my School choice and Tita Laura looks happy seeing it.

Napatingin ako Kath at kahit nakikinig siya pero hindi siya nagsasalita at hindi pa rin siya tumitingin.

"That's a good plan Gab..I don't know about my Gab here..She doesn't told me her decision yet."

"Tita..I did..remember we talked last night?"

Tita Laura hesitate to answer back. Instead she just smile.
