Chapter 24

"Happy Birthday, Yna." he muttered.

My eyes were glued on him while my heart won't stop in beating so fast. He is staring at me too. My hands where he placed the box was trembling.

"T-tapos na ang birthday ko." nanginginig kong sabi.

He licked his lips and then he nodded. 

"I know but I didn't get the chance to greet you so I'll do it tonight," he said. 

"And that..." he looked at the box. "...was my gift."

My lips parted. Oh my God. Am I dreaming?!

"Thank you, then." I almost whispered.

"You're welcome, Yna."

There's a long silence after that and this is so awkward. I bit my lower lip just to suppress thousands of emotions coming from me. Hindi ko alam kung paano ko natagalan ang ganoong eksena, mabuti na lang napagdesisyunan na naming dalawa ang pumasok sa loob ng bahay. Our parents were there talking  about something. I went straight to my room just to calm my heart. Bumaba na lang ako noong pauwi na sila.

"Merry Christmas, Yna." Mommy greeted me. Oh yeah, today is Christmas Day. I smiled to her and hugged her.

"Merry Christmas, Mommy." I greeted too. I saw Daddy in the kitchen cooking something. He glanced at our direction but I immediately tore off my eyes on him. 

Our Christmas vacation was... uhh... well nothing's new and it just past like normal. Walang bago bukod sa may natanggap akong regalo kay Daddy. It was just a simple notebook or diary. Noong una hindi ko maintindihan kung bakit niya ako binigyan ng ganito kaya tinago ko na lang. But somehow, I kinda feel touched at some point. Mas mata-touch siguro ako kapag alam kong sincere siya.

Ganoon din sa bagong taon, wala lang. Sobrang normal lang talaga. Natulog nga ako nang maaga eh at hindi na naabutan pa ang fireworks.

Josh:

Happy New Year, Yna.

That message was Josh's. Speaking of Josh, I've never talk to him anymore since that night. It's not that I am afraid he might tell it to others but because it feels like I owe him one. He's my friend and I didn't tell him...

Me:

Happy New Year, Josh! Kumusta?

Matagal bago ako muling nakatanggap ng mensahe sa kanya.

Josh:

Ayos lang. Tumaba ata ako. Ang daming foods eh :D
