Chapter 27

The duo waited out the front of the doctor's surgery in silence. Oikawa's appointment seemed to take an entirety. When it had really only been ten minutes tops. (F/n) stared off into space, her mind checking out for the moment, not wanting to deal with the situation at hand.

A hand waved in front of her face as her name was called. Blinking a few times before looking around to see who it belonged to, "sorry, what?"

Iwaizumi brows furrowed in concern, "you okay? We were calling out to you for a bit."

Rubbing the side of her head as she turned it away, "yeah. Just lost in thought for a moment."

The brunette snuck up beside her, reaching over and taking her hand in his, "come on (F/n)-chan, we have lots to talk about at the café."

The short, dark-haired female let out a sigh, letting herself be tugged along towards the setter's chosen destination. She hadn't eaten much that day as her stomach had been weighed down by the exams followed by the doctor's appointment, so the thought of food had her drooling.

It wasn't long before they arrived at a picturesque cafe. Dropping (F/n)'s hand, the setter gave her a cheeky smile, "this is my fave place. They serve the best desserts in town."

Stepping into the establishment, the trio were shown by a cute waitress to their table towards the back. The waitress was giving the guys all her attention while ignoring the emerald-eyed female with them.

The Karasuno third year pursed her lips and grumbled out quietly as Oikawa careless flirted back, "yeah, I can see why it's your fave place now."

Hearing the comment, the spiky-haired male covered a chuckle with a cough before clearing his throat. Throwing a pointed glare at his setter as a reminder, it wasn't the time to flirt with the waitress.

Oikawa shivered as his childhood friend glared daggers into him. Turning his charming smile to the waitress, "give us a minute, and we'll be ready to order."

(F/n) just watched the waitress sway her hips as she stepped away from the table before turning her eyes back to the menu.

Chocolate eyes took notice of dark circles under her emerald orbs as he leaned on both hands. He was concerned she wasn't taking care of herself at the moment but offered her a small smile, "remember it's on me today, so order whatever you like, okay."

Stiffly nodding as she remembered why the food was on him, keeping her eyes on the menu, she could feel her stomach knotting up again. She mumbled a quick thank you as she listened to the chocolate eyed setter point out different items on the menu that he thought she may enjoy.

Chewing the inside of her cheek, she suddenly had the urge to devour something smothered in chocolate. Deciding to play it safe, when the waitress turned up again to take their order, she ordered her chocolate lava cake and a ginger-lemon tea, in case her stomach turned on her.

The table fell awkwardly silent after they'd all ordered. (F/n)'s hands wrung together under the table, not knowing what to say or do in this situation.

Iwaizumi rubbed the side of his head, realizing he was going to be the one to break the awkwardness, "so they confirmed it today?"

Not taking her eyes off the table, she nodded, "yeah."

"Did the doctor go through all your ... options?" he gently asked the question, not knowing what to expect.

Her teeth chewed on her bottom lip as she nodded again, "yeah. The doctor said I got a couple of weeks to make up my mind about it."

"What are you planning to do?" Oikawa asked cautiously.

Opening her mouth about to answer only to quickly snap it shut as the waitress appeared with a tray of food. Mumbling a quick thank you as her dessert was placed in front of her making her stomach roll uneasily.
