The pregnant teen lay sprawled out on the lounge after morning sickness ruined yet another morning. Her brother had gotten in late last night after returning from the volleyball club's training camp in Tokyo and had gone to hang out with Tanaka that morning. The third year had been left alone in the house again, but she was grateful for no one being around because of her current condition. Not having the energy to move around, she ended up falling back to sleep with her face pressed into the cushion.
Arriving back home, Yuu and Tanaka were chatting noisily about a movie they were about to watch. After kicking off their shoes, the duo made their way towards the kitchen in search of snacks. The moment they walked past the lounge room, they froze at the sight of (F/n).
The taller second year's eyes widen as he squeaks out, "is she dead?"
Ignoring his friend's comment, Yuu gingerly headed over to the lounge. Gently shaking her shoulder in an attempt to wake her while asking, "(F/n) are you okay?"
The third year tried to press her face further into the material, to bury her face further into the cushion, only to be shaken again. Letting out a small groan while mumbling, "I don't wanna get up."
Giving her one more shake while scolding her, "it's not even lunchtime and your napping!"
"Fine," she whined as she turned her head and rubbed her eyes. Blinking a few more times before pushing herself up, so she was sitting on her knees. Letting out an ear-popping yawn before noticing the other second year, mumbling out a quick hello before turning back to Yuu. "So, how was camp?"
A brilliant smile appeared at the mention of camp, "it was awesome. There were so many good players!"
Blinking a few times as things start to focus, "that's good. I'm glad you had fun."
"How were your exams?" cautiously asking while leaning forward.
"I passed.... somehow," she shrugged her shoulders as her eyes dropped to the pattern on the lounge.
Yuu frowned at her dismissive response before remembering how he'd found her, "why were you passed out on the lounge?"
Rubbing the back of her neck, "I didn't sleep well last night, so I took a nap."
Ruffling his sister's hair, "okay." Taking a step back as (F/n) stood up, tilting his head to the side. Something was different about her.
"What are you staring at?" taking notice of him staring like he was trying to work out a math problem.
His nose scrunched up, trying to work out what had changed, "somethings different."
The emerald-eyed third year pushed herself off the lounge. She wanted to get away from her eagle-eyed brother, "it's probably since you haven't seen me in a couple of days."
The libero shook his head, not being able to put his finger on it, "no, it's like something changed, but I don't what."
Forcing herself (F/n) rolled her eyes whilst scoffing, "whatever, Yuu." Taking a step around him, needing to get away from the perceptive sibling, "don't make a mess in the kitchen cause I'm not cleaning it up."
The moment she stepped foot in her room, her shoulders sagged in relief. Dropping herself into her desk chair, she loaded up her laptop, deciding to check a couple of things before crawling into bed with a good book for the rest of the day.
Her eyes scanned the unread emails, noticing one from her art club sensei. Clicking on the email, her stomach dropped as she read it's context.
Hello Miss Nishinoya,
This is just a reminder that we need to send your photographs to be correctly mounted by the end of the week, or they will not be back in time for the competition. Please have them on a USB so I can sort that out.
If time permits, I would like to see what moments you have captured.
I will be in the staff room every day this week.
Please feel free to come past whenever you get the chance.
Regards
Mr Suzuki
The dark-haired teen tensed; she had forgotten about the art competition that she had furiously been taking photos for with everything going on at the moment. Her eyes flicked over to her bedside table, where the camera and memory card were stashed away. She knew she would have to face the images taken sooner or later. Pressing her tongue to the back of her teeth, she didn't want to through the photos of her raw emotions caught on camera, but if she was ever going to stand a chance at winning and getting a scholarship into university, she had to.
The sound of Yuu and Tanaka screaming at the television broke the tense silence reminding her she was alone. The thought of her brother walking in while she was going through the images made had a shiver running down her spine. That was the last thing she wanted to explain. Shaking her head, not wanting to be disrupted, she pushed herself off the chair and promptly locked the bedroom door.
Nervously going over to the bedside table and pulling the padded bag. Sweaty fingers dug through the internal pockets to find the memory card. She had taken it out as a just in case after the photos had been taken. Her fingers curled around the small, slightly flexible plastic as she pulled it out before unclenching her hand and staring at it.
Releasing a sigh, she left her camera bag on the bedside table before heading back to insert it into the computer. It took a moment to load before the file appeared on her screen, waiting to be clicked on and viewed. Moving her curser across so it hovered over the icon before double-clicking.
All the images captured at that moment appeared on the screens as little squares. The teen's teeth attacked her bottom lip as her stomach flipped uncomfortably, she had to choose one, but her body froze in place. She sucked in a breath, forcing herself to enlarge the images from the day she'd found out she was pregnant due to a drunken one nightstand.
It took (F/n) a long while and a lot of tears, but she finally chose a photo in the end. A photograph that captured the absolute heartbreak as the truth was confirmed in a single shot perfectly.
Wiping the lingering tears away with the back of her hand before pulling out a memory stick from her desk draw. Turning it over three times before it was successfully inserted into the machine. Dragging all the photos, she would require mounted onto the empty device before safely ejecting it and the memory card.
Shoving the USB into her bag and stashing the memory card back in her bedside table to deal with another day. Quickly emailing her sensei back that she would bring the USB in tomorrow before hitting send.
The dark-haired teen was exhausted as she flopped onto the bed. Her stomach let out a gurgle reminding her she hadn't eaten anything but also threatened that whatever she ate would likely be seen shortly after. Curling into a ball, she just wanted to sleep the rest of the day away, but before she had a chance, her phone dinged.
Grabbing the device she spotted the message from her bestie.
Airia: what are you up to?
(F/n): nothing much...
(F/n): why?
Airia: it's been forever since we hung out!
(F/n): sure but no parties! we can just chill and binge watch something
Airia: sounds like a plan! come over when you're ready, I have snacks :P
She couldn't stop a groan from escaping as she pushed herself off the bed, it had been ages since they'd actually hung out. Slowly getting changed out of her pyjamas and into leggings and a baggy hoodie. Grabbing her phone (F/n) stepped out of her room and let Yuu know she was heading to her friend's house. Stepping out of the house, she couldn't wait to do nothing and forget about her growing problem.
