The soldiers drove to the paintball arena, talking aimlessly about random things that cane to mind.
"We are not doing that Steven." Bucky scoffed.
"Oh come on Buck! It'll be fun!" Steve whined as they started to get out of the car and walk to the arena.
"What on Earth makes you think that I would want to back to that place?" Bucky gaped.
"Because!... you had so much fun the last time, didn't ya Buck?!" Steve teased.
Bucky groaned, shoving the blonde away from him as they continued to walk towards the arena. "That was one of the worst experiences of my life." He shivered as he remembered it then slapped his best friend in the arm when he heard him burst out laughing. "Shut up dipshit."
Steve calmed down slightly then looked at the brunette, staring at him quizzically, almost like he was examining him or like he was meeting him for the first time. "Why?"
Bucky turned to face the blonde and tilted his head, raising a brow, "why what?"
The blonde still looked at him with a puzzled expression, "why didn't you like it. To be honest, the only reason I reluctantly! agreed to go to the strip club for your bachelor party was because I thought that you wouldn't care or mind so it confuses me as to why you didn't like it."
Bucky scoffed, "what would I like about that place?"
"The woman." Steve deadpanned.
Bucky let out a burst of laughter, shaking his head, as well as his hands. "No!" He stopped laughing then turned to his best friend again, "I may have been a playboy back then but that doesn't mean that I actually liked the broads I picked up."
Steve scoffed then made a face like he understood, "understandable. You got me there." Bucky laughed again then waved him off. Steve then hit him in the arm lightly, just to get his attention again, "tell me somethin' will ya?" Bucky gave him his full attention as they waited in line. "You seem different, not in a bad way but you're different, I can tell. So explain somethin' to me... how come you wanted to get married now and not back then?"
Bucky scoffed again, moving up in the line when the line started to move. "Who said I never wanted a family back then?"
Steve gave him a look, not expecting that question. "You never talked about it and whenever the guys brought up starting families, marriage, or even dating in general, you would wave it off or change the topic or scoff or something so I figured that you didn't want to get married." He shrugged his shoulders in a way that "what are you gonna do?"
"That's simple. It's because I didn't want to talk about it at that time." Bucky stated simply. "If I didn't come back from the war - which I technically didn't-"
Steve slapped the man in the arm, giving him a stern look, "Tony ain't the only one who doesn't like it when you talk about that." He said with a low warning voice.
Bucky gave him an apologetic smile and a sorrowful gaze, "alright, I won't." He crossed his heart then carried on. "I didn't want to get into that topic because I didn't want to get my hopes up if I never made it back from the war... I didn't want my partner to be lonely or whatever if I didn't make it back so that's why." He explained.
