The Sacrifice

Plan "B" - 2

Elena and I get off the ledge spotting a rock with a heavy chain on the ground.  We try to pick it up but aren't strong enough

"Stefan!" Elena yelled worried when we couldn't hear him anymore.

"Elena! Ariel!" Caroline exclaims rushing to us.

"Caroline, Stefan's down there and the chain is rusted." Elena says out of breath.

Caroline starts to climb into the well, but I grab her arm to stop her.

"No, no, no! You can't, it's filled with vervain. Caroline, we've got to get him out. Now!" I exclaim worried.

We came up with a plan, we were going to use the chain as a harnest so Elena could get down there, tie Stefan, pull him up, and then Elena. Easy peasy right.

Elena wraps the chain around herself and hooks it against one of the links.

"We got you, okay?" I assure her She nods "Yeah."

Bonnie runs up to us. "What's going on? You just took off in a blur."

"I heard Ariel and Elena screaming" She explains.

I grab Elena's hand and help lower her into the well.

"Are you ready?" Caroline asked. She nods "Yeah."

Caroline slowly reels her down. Caroline loses hold of the chain for a second but grabs it just in time.

"Sorry!"

"It's okay, keep going. Come on!" I pace and bite my nails in worry.

Caroline continues to lower Elena down into the well.

"Hey! Oh, Oh my God." Elena exclaims from inside the well.

"Elena, what's going on down there?" I call out, looking over the ledge. "Pull him up!"

Caroline starts to pull the chain up from the well. When Stefan comes out, I unhook him from the chain and Bonnie and Caroline gently put him on the ground.

"Elena? Ready for you!" Caroline yells down. "Hold on! I need to find the stone."

"Hurry!" I exclaim, looking over the ledge.

"Hold on! I think I found it!"

Suddenly she starts screaming frantically and splashing,

"Elena! What's going on?!" I yell frantic

"I got it. Come on! Bring me up!"

Caroline reels Elena up. In the process Elena leaves the flashlight in the well. We help her get up and when she sees Stefan on the ground badly burned she jumps down to his side.

She cradles his head under her arm.
"Stefan! Stefan."

Elena sees a rock nearby and grabs it, cutting her hand with it. Caroline turns away, not wanting to go all vampire. Elena places her wrist to Stefan's mouth. He opens his eyes and drinks from her.

"I've got the stone, Stefan. Stefan, it's gonna be okay, everything's gonna be okay."

When we got home, Elena went to her room to change while I helped Jenna and Alaric set up for dinner.

"Where is Jeremy?" Elena asked as she came downstairs and into the kitchen.
"Oh, he went straight up to his room. He said he wasn't hungry." I explained as I brought a bowl of bread to the table.

Elena helps lay out the plates and looks over at Jenna, who was busy talking to someone.

"Who is she talking to?"
Alaric shrugged "I don't know. Everything go okay today?" He asked us both,

I nod slightly, "There were a few hiccups, but yeah."

"Of course, I understand." Says Jenna to the person on the phone.

"Elena, it's for you."
Jenna says, handing her the phone.

"Who is it?" Jenna shrugs but doesn't say anything. Elena takes the phone and places it to her ear.

"Hello?" Elena glances up with what looks like fear at Alaric and Me.
We gave her a questioning look, but she walks away without saying a word.

Alaric and I exchange confused looks, Elena slowly turned around and we motioned with our hands we wanted to know what the hell was going on.

Elena puts her hand up, gesturing us to hold on.

Elena slowly turned around, dropping the phone as she yelled. "Jenna, no!"
Ric and I whirl around and Jenna stabs herself in the stomach and falls to the floor.

"Jenna! Jenna!" We exclaimed worried, we rushed to her side on the ground in panic.

After that, we quickly took Jenna to the hospital, and thankfully in time because despite stabbing herself in the stomach she survived.

Elena and I proceed to the waiting room where a very anxious Jeremy is waiting.

"Is she okay?"

I nod, "The doctors told Alaric that she got lucky. She's gonna make it. She's gonna be okay."

"Does she remember what happened?"
Elena shook her head, "No, nothing. It's all a part of Katherine's mind compulsion."

"Why would Katherine hurt Jenna?" Jeremy asked confused.

"Because she's trying to send a message. That she could get to anybody"
She starts to cry and turns away.

"Hey, hey, hey, come here." He embraces her, bringing me in as well. I'm not complaining, I need it.

"It's gonna be okay."

"No, it's not."

"She's gonna pay. I don't know how but she's gonna pay."
