The Descent - 3

The three of us head to the school because there was a vampire attack, and since there's a bunch of people here tonight we need to hurry.

"Hey, Stefan, it's me. I don't know where you are but please call me. It's important." Elena says into the phone leaving Stefan a voicemail.

"Hey. Have you heard from him? Do you know what he's up to?" Elena questioned when Damon walked up when he finished talking to Sheriff Forbes.

"My baby brother is not exactly my priority right now. Take this." He hands us two stakes.

"Come on, let's go."

When we hear a girl scream we run to the sound and Damon with his speed gets there first. The girl runs out of the car but Rose is already there and bites her when he does arrive.

"Rose, stop!"

She rushes toward him but he grabs her and pins her on the ground.

"Rose, Rose! It's me, it's Damon. It's Damon."

Her face is normal again. She looks at the girl's body and She starts crying.

"Did I do this? I never meant to hurt anyone. I never wanted to hurt anyone."

"I know." Damon says softly,

"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry." Rose cry's when she sees us. I gulp down the lump in my throat as I watch the scene.

She's been running for 500 years, she doesn't deserve to go like this.

"Come on, let's get you home."

She shakes her head from side to side as she cries "No, I don't have a home, I haven't had a home in so long." She wraps her arms around herself and weeps "Oh make it stop, please make it stop! I hate it, make it stop!"

Damon picks her up in his arms and starts walking away.

"Hi there" Damon says when Rose opens her eyes.

"I'm sorry."

"You went on a murderous rampage. It happens."

Elena and I enter the room, poking our heads in at the sound of her voice. "I'm sorry, Elena, Ariel. I don't like taking human life, I never have."

Damon looks at us annoyed "You shouldn't be here."

"It's the worst part about it: the hunt, the need to kill, the thirst, the pleasure it brings you afterwards. I wasn't meant to be evil. It hurts." Rose explains, she looks worse then she did before. Somehow more Pale and more sweaty.

"Stop talking about it." Damon scolds hurt.

"Damon's a lot like me. He wants to care but when he does he runs away from it. I'm sorry for what I've done today." She apologizes.

"I know."

"And you need to fight, fight like your sister. I know that you're scared but you have to do it anyway." Rose says giving a moving speech.

She coughs and Elena comes closer and puts her arm under her neck.

"Why are you two so nice to me?"

I smile lightly "Us humans."

"You can never forget it, what it's like to be human. It haunts me. It's the only thing that's kept me going. It doesn't hurt as much anymore."

Suddenly she starts to hurt and screams, rolling around in the bed as she clutches her stomach.

"What do we do?" I ask.

"Go."

"Damon..."

"Just go. I got this"

We did end up leaving, but we came back. I stayed in the car while Elena went to talk to Damon because she wanted to be the one to do it."Is he okay?" I ask Elena when she comes back, getting in the passenger seat.

She sighed at me "To be honest...I don't know"

When we get home, Stefans there waiting. "Stefan, you're home."

He nods and bows his head "Rose?"

I shake my head and look between them "I'm gonna leave you two alone"

"Uh actually, it's best if you stay"

I raise an eyebrow but reluctantly sit on the steps of the stairs as I wait for the explanation.

"I um...I called Isobel."

Elena nods "I know."

"I'm sorry, I had to."

She interrupted him "It's okay. Did you find her?"

"Not exactly" my eyes widened when I hear Johns voice and shoot up from the stairs. I gape as John stands there, hands in his pockets as he looks at us.

"Hello Girls."

Elena is the first to say anything, while I just stare in pure shock, frozen in my place.

"Uncle John."
