"Women are like Tea Bags. You never know how strong they are until they're in hot water."

________________________________Professor Miller searched for anything she could comment on so she wouldn't have to talk about the Cruciatus curse. Her eyes landed on Y/n, then looking around for something else until she noticed a strange thing about her. She looked over to Y/n, furrowing her eyebrows. She knew she couldn't talk to her as a daughter but this was just too important.
"Y/n, where's your necklace?" Professor Miller asked. Y/n furrowed her eyebrows, thinking that she was asking about James' necklace which she knew nothing of. But that confusion soon went away when she realised she was talking about the one which had more meaning to her.
"Oh, it's right.....here...." Y/n said, her voice lowering as she realised that the pendent could not be felt through her shirt. She quickly put her hand inside her collar, feeling for the golden chain but alas, it couldn't be found. "Shit," Y/n cursed as Professor Miller's eyes widened, not fond of her daughters language.
The other students were quite confused, seeing as though no other Professor would care about a student losing a necklace, or even notice it. Y/n quickly got out of her seat, rushing out of the room leaving Professor Miller worried, Jack, Sirius, and James confused, and her friends as confused as the other students.
But Professor Miller didn't want to draw attention to Y/n so she quickly got the students attention.
"Anyway, so as I was saying the Cruciatus curse...." Professor Miller began explaining, making up for the strange event that had just occurred.
Y/n rushed to her dorm. She knew the value of that necklace. She knew how it was an Heirloom from her mothers side which was worth over 600 Galleons. And the fact that she just had it laying on her bedside table while people would do anything to get their hands on it was just outrageous.
"Y/n, you daft woman..." Y/n cursed herself, rushing to the common room doors before entering. Y/n ran up to her dorm, only to realise her necklace was no where in sight. "Fuck," Y/n said to herself. She rushed over to her drawers in case one of the girls put it in there.
But unfortunately, it was no where be found. Well, that was until, a black owl came and knocked on her window with a letter in their beak.
Y/n opened the window cautiously, not knowing anyone with a black owl except for Tom who was in class at the moment. She took the letter from its beak, opening it slowly and reading it, confused.
Y/n,
If you want the necklace, meet me at the Astronomy tower, Saturday, 5 o'clock, sharp. Don't tell anyone.
The letter didn't tell who it came from which only made Y/n curious. She did want the necklace back but this was....stalker-like, much? It was still a Thursday so she'd still have time to think about it. There would also be a death eater meeting tomorrow, and a Slug Club meeting.
She couldn't tell her mother about this strange letter, afraid of worrying her so she'd have to make the choice herself, which didn't always end up going the way she wanted it to.

Soon, it was time for the students to go to bed and Y/n was laying in her bed, thinking about the letter. "Hey guys, you didn't happen to see a necklace with a blue gem in the middle and golden outlining, have you?" Y/n asked the girls, only to see them shake their heads, confused.
"That one you wear all that time? Have you lost it?" Clara asked. Y/n nodded silently, disappointed in herself.
"Why did Professor Miller ask you about it?" Amelia inquired suddenly. Y/n realised that her friends knew nothing about her mother being alive, and if she did tell them, they'd keep bothering Professor Miller. She froze for a second, thinking of a white lie.
