After Eren had met Mikasa on that day, she became a part of his life, and they adored one another. But today was the day that Eren longed for, the day Mikasa would meet his best friend Armin.
"I don't know if this is such a good idea Eren, what if he doesn't like me?" Mikasa asked him, with such panic in her eyes.
"Nonsense! Mikasa, I know Armin like the back of my hand, he's a nice guy... don't you trust me?" Mikasa then wiped away her frantic face and replaced it with a cheery smile.
"Of course I do Eren," she said to him confidently. But Eren saw the reservoir leaking out of Mikasa's eyes as she struggled to keep her composure under control. Eren walked slowly over to her, and held the teary girl in his arms, comforting her as she cried softly into his arms.
"It's okay Mikasa, you'll be fine; I promise you, if anyone tries to hurt you, I'll pummel them till they bleed." He vowed to Mikasa, blushing at this gesture.
But the way Mikasa saw the world, in her eyes, violence should never be the answer for anything, and she didn't want Eren to go down that path of torment and agony.
"I appreciate your willingness to protect me Eren, but I want you to understand that all this fighting is pointless, it'll never end. " Mikasa then paused looking down softly as Eren grew concerned.
"Mikasa? What's wrong?" Eren asked worriedly, as Mikasa then looked up at him, her lips trembling with fear.
"It's just that... I don't want you to get hurt," Mikasa tearfully expressed, causing Eren's eyes to soften and look down slightly. His heart felt like it sank to the depths of his body, as he never wanted Mikasa to worry about him.
"Oh Mikasa, I-I'm sorry. I wasn't thinking straight, I just... I don't want anything to happen to you when I'm not there." Eren stressed as he started rambling on, and on before Mikasa cupped his face making him stop.
"It's okay Eren, I know you care about me... and I care about you," Mikasa told him, as Eren blushed nervously, feeling the touch of her hand pressing against his soft face.
"Come on, let's go see Armin," she said, holding onto Eren's hand.
"O-okay," he said, his lips quirking up forming a small smile, as they walked hand in hand to meet Armin.
Meanwhile, Armin was waiting against an oak tree, holding what seemed like a big textbook. Armin Arlert was a very intelligent young boy, as his love was history and he adored every second of it. He was the same age as Eren and Mikasa, being ten years old, as his hair was blonde, having bangs go past his face.
He wore a light blue cardigan with a dark green vest underneath. He also had a hat that belonged to his departed grandfather, he never went anywhere without it as it was special to him.
He then saw Eren emerge from behind a corner, as Armin called over to him.
"Eren! Over here!" Armin shouted, waving over at him, as Eren looked in the direction of the yelling, like a deer hearing a disturbance in the bushes. Eren then smiled over at him catching a glimpse of him amidst the crowd of people crossing the road.
But as Eren went over he noticed Mikasa was a few feet behind him not moving, her hair covering her eyes, looking like a little haunted girl.
"Hey, Mikasa, it's fine, he's friendly," Eren assured her, as she looked at him, her eyes looking through the cracks of her long black hair.
"Eren... I'm scared. What if he's like the other two boys?" She asked him, with frightful tears glistening in her eyes.
"He's not Mikasa I promise. Hey... I won't let anything happen to you, and if he even tries something that you find uncomfortable, make sure you let me know, okay?" He soothed her, wiping away her tears as he saw her lips slowly but surely quirked up forming a smile of commitment.
