A light snowfall graces the river shore -
Soft sizzle as lacy crystal
flakes land
On the bonfire flair.

Lone banjo plays
Sweet strains -
Cherished carols of yore.

The yule log glows -
Cradled in the flames.

Hugs shared without restraint.

Frank tends his rotisserie
Cheeks aglow with
Holiday cheer -
Aroma of roast fish
Fills the air.

Japonica and Edith,
Bianca, and Twila too,
Dance amongst the shadows and starlight -
Others sway as they watch,
Their smiles shiny -
Eyes gleam'n bright.

On this dear night
All hearts are friends -
The spirit of joy and peace descends.
From the mayor to the smuggler -
The merchant to the witch -
All send you their
Hope - from their corner of this story -
That you , and your loved ones,
Find Comfort and Joy.

Oh! Look!
Here come Dipsy and Dobbs -
Arm in arm -
She wears a blush!
He looks so proud!

Frank claps for attention
And begins to feed the crowd.

Edenville feasts on fish!

..............

From a dark corner
At the edge of the bridge,
Two reddened eyes watch...
Wait...
Slowly, a slight figure turns away...
"Not tonight" is whispered.
