"Yoo hoo! Admiral Tanker!" Bessie lowed softly over the back fence twixt her yard and the Admiral's kitchen garden.

She watched, as he popped up from a cover of cucumber vines and peered over the okra in her direction.

"Yes, M'am!" Rusty exclaimed as he worked his way through the vine toward the backyard fence.

"How are you doing on this fine, warm day?" He asked her.

Bessie beamed up at him,  responded with a smile, and  reached out a generous  profferring of cookies

"Good enough to bake cookies with some left over to share!" Bessie laughed as Rusty lunged toward the plate..

"Chocolate! What a treat!" Rusty said, his mouth already full of the delicious snack...
"What have I done to deserve such royal treatment?"

Bessie blushed and responded with a throaty giggle...
" Well, I made some extra for that Mr.Dobbs... but I don't think he deserved em. He didn't seem to like my creamers... so I gave him some store-bought raisin  biscuits. "

" Miss Hereford, you have lovely creamers!  Why, I have admired your set of creamers for years! And anytime you want to get em out for a wee dusting.  just give me a call... since my retirement, I have time for pleasurable pursuits! "

This last eruption caused Miss Bessie to burst into giggles as she handed Admiral Tanker the platter and turned to go back to her kitchen.

" Thank you, Sir... thank you most kindly! " she answered.

Just then, Ancient Boo showed up and lept into her arms...
"Guess I'd best feed this beastie."

Saying their goodnights, Admiral Tanker turned back to his garden, still stuffing himself with the delicious treats.

Meanwhile, three sets of wide, yellow-ish eyes watched Bessie and Boo from the thick leafy hidey place deep in the juniper beside the back porch.

"Now?" a raspy voice whispered.
"No, not yet... not quite yet..."  came the whispered answer.
