I opened the door and stepped into the apartment, staring around. It was quiet but then again, the apartment was always quiet. I shut the door behind me, inhaled the sweet scent of the air freshener and smiled. It's been quite a while since I came here and that was because of my busy schedule.
I walked into the living room, dropped my bag on the couch, took my tab and began the day's work. Although, there wasn't much work to do –thanks to Adrian, I didn't know how he managed to pull it off but he did and for that I was grateful. So, all I had to do was to plan and manage Ian's schedule for the upcoming week and submit my report to the agency.
As I continued with my work, I realized the reason behind the unusual quietness –Ian wasn't in the house. Which meant that he didn't come home yesterday or he was out at the gym.
After about thirty minutes, the door beeped indicating that someone was coming in. I raised my head, turning in the direction of the door just as it opened to Ian walking in, looking so radiant and ravishing handsome –he's always handsome. He wore an oversized sweatshirt and a tracksuit, his bangs fell across his face giving him a soft and delicate feature. He had a headset hung over his neck with a silver flask hanging from between his fingers and his phone in his hands.
That thing sure does take most of his attention though. I thought.
Mhm, I smell jealousy in the air. My inner voice teased.
Nah, you smell wrong. I huffed and continued to stare at him as he typed away on his phone, smiling.
Hey, he doesn't seem to notice your presence.
Then, it's time to make my presence known.
I cleared my throat softly and smiled. "Good morning." I greeted.
He let out a blink, frowning as he raised his head from his phone and looked in my direction.
"Morning." He replied and shoved his phone into his pocket. He glanced at the door and then at me. "Did you just arrive?"
He walked to the kitchen, placed the flask on the counter, opened the fridge and grabbed a bottle of water.
"Nope," I answered. "I came in a few minutes ago."
He nodded, unscrewing the cap of the bottle and took a large gulp of water. "You didn't have to come in today." He said.
"But I did." I smiled. "I needed to finish up some work."
He arced his brow, slightly. "Oh." He mumbled.
I let out a breath and pressed my lips together. "You went to the gym." I gestured at his outfit.
"Yeah." He answered, quietly.
"Oh, that's good," I replied. Just needed to confirm.
He ran his fingers through his hair, ruffling it in the process and let out a breath.
"I'll just go freshen up." He said. "I'll see you in a bit."
"Sure." I watched him disappear into his room and turned to continue my work when my phone rang. I checked the caller ID and it was Dad.
"Hello, darling." I greeted with a smile on my lips. "Good morning."
"Good morning to you, baby." He replied. "How are you? Did you sleep well?"
"I should be asking you that, Dad." I chuckled. "I'm fine and yes, I did sleep well. How about you?"
He exhaled. "I did rest for a couple of hours before work came calling."
