Cut to about an hour later, I slouched on the chair, legs crossed on the table with Krystal in the living room watching the rerun of a popular and very interesting TV drama -we were seeing this program for the umpteenth time and note the sarcasm. Rosa had already left for her home and Dad was yet to return from his outing.
I felt a nudge on my left hand, disrupting the message I was typing. I frowned and turned to the source, Krystal.
"What?" I asked a bit irritated.
"Pay attention." She said, more like commanded.
"What?! I don't get how you and Rosa find this stuff interesting." I shot back glancing at my phone.
"Come on," she replied, eyes glued on the screen, "it might not be interesting but it's funny."
"Of course, you'll find it funny." I mumbled lowly but loud enough for her to hear.
She paused the movie and turned to look me in the eye, her arms folded on her chest.
"If it's not funny or interesting," she stated, "you've got to admit that the actors," she pointed to the screen, "all have superb facial expressions." She squinted in a glare.
I sighed inwardly.
Why did I allow myself to be talked into watching this?
I looked up from my phone and gave a cursory look at the TV screen -she is right, they do have weird facial expressions.
"You see," I jumped slightly in my seat. "You even attest to it." She said.
Okay, I said that out loud.
"Yeah," I replied.
"But," she wiggled her index finger at me, "note, the facial expressions aren't weird. They are superb." She scolded.
"Yes." I gave her a tight smile. "Superb."
She nodded and returned to watching the movie.
I heave a sigh of relief.
Just before I could type in the first letter of my message, her voice came again.
Sorry. The voice inside me mocked. She could be annoying and harsh sometimes.
"Kiara, you need to see this." She said, "This is the best part of the movie."
"Okay." I replied and quickly hurried to finish the message.
"Kiara," She glanced at me, "that message can wait."
"Hmm."
She leaned towards me and peeped over my shoulder at what I was doing.
"Richard can wait." She placed a hand on my shoulder and whispered. "But this," she pointed to the drama playing, "can't wait."
"Oh." I groaned. "Tell me more." I replied.
"Please." She whined, paused the movie and stood up.
"Okay." I pressed the power button to let the phone sleep and raised my head to look at her.
She stood next to the TV, her face contorted into a sad, painful and desperate expression mimicking that of the actress.
I folded my arms, leaned back into the couch and arced my brow.
She pointed at the remote and gestured for me to resume the movie which I did.
"But you said you loved me!" She started, feigning tears. "I'll never leave you, Sue, as long as I live. That's what you said, isn't it?" She gasped, placing a hand on her chest just like the actress did.
