"What do you think?" Ian turned and faced me with a cute baby dress held to his chest.
Cut to a few minutes later, after our tour around the shopping mall, we finally got to our destination –a department store that sells mother care and kiddies items. And so, here we were confused as to what to pick because a certain someone had a very sophisticated sense of fashion.
I stood with my arms crossed, eyeing the piece of clothing in his hand.
"Sure, it's pretty." I turned to the rack beside me and picked out another set of clothes. "Don't you think it would be best if we pick something that suits the baby?" I asked, turning to face him. "Something that exactly matches the sex of the baby."
He tilted his head at me. "That would be nice if only I knew the sex of the baby but sadly, I don't."
Perfect. I thought. So, we're doing blind shopping.
I made a face at him, one that read 'serious'.
He shrugged and smiled. "I didn't ask and I told her not to tell me." He turned his gaze from me allowing them to wander through the store. "Because I wanted it to be a surprise."
Now, it was my turn to smile. "Whoa, that's nice," I said. "Well, in that case, we could get unisex clothes for the baby since you are unsure of the sex of the baby."
He flashed a smile at my tone, one that exposed his cute dimples. "Yeah, you're correct." He nodded. "We should get those." He turned and gestured for the attention of one of the sales attendants.
She walked up to us in her prim uniform and I couldn't help but admire her composure.
"Hi." She smiled, a bit too brightly. "How may I be of service to you, sir?"
Wow, professionalism at its peak.
I smiled softly as I stared at the lady whose eyes were glittering with fascination at Ian.
Or she's trying to get his attention? My inner voice sassed.
The smile fell from my face at her remark. Where did that come from?
It isn't hard to tell. She ignored you and she's looking at him like a candy. Inner Kiara scoffed. She's just trying to cover up with professionalism.
I sighed, inwardly. You know, it would be nice if you just shut up. I said to the voice inside my head.
Suit yourself. My inner voice retorted.
I let out a sigh and watched as Ian flashed the sales attendant a polite smile.
"Could you show us the section for unisex clothes?" He asked.
"Sure." She smiled. "Please, come." She said, guiding us to another section of the store.
I gently placed the clothes in my hands back on the rack and turned to follow them from behind. I couldn't help but access Ian's outfit.
He wore a white T-shirt and a black and white blazer hoodie over it with matching slacks. Somehow, he had manufactured a face cap from our visit to one of the department stores and it went well with his choice of clothing but then again, he was Ian. He could pull anything off.
We stopped at another section filled with racks of carrying different baby clothes whose prices I couldn't even imagine.
"Here we are." She announced, smiling.
"Thanks." Ian smiled back.
"You're welcome." She smiled, dazedly at him. "Is there anything else I can help you with?"
