I was all alone, I thought to myself as I stared down the road.
Nah, you're not. I've got your back.
I smiled, wryly. Yeah, you've got my back. It's rather too early to doubt myself. I turned and sat on the bench, waiting for Adrian to come. And while waiting for them, I decided to rearrange my bag.
After minutes of watching people alight and board buses, a black minivan pulled up in front of me. I didn't give too much attention to it assuming it to be another vehicle that had dropped a passenger.
A shadow appeared before me. "Hey." A very familiar voice whispered. "Get in."
I frowned, raised my head at the voice and was met by a very bright smile. Heck, it was blinding.
"Hey, stranger." I smiled at him.
He winked at me, smiling. "Hey, friend." He greeted.
"Are you here to kidnap me?" I took my bag and looked at him.
"Maybe." He shrugged. "After you." He motioned for me to get into the car.
I entered the car and he climbed in behind me. "Such a gentleman." I mumbled.
He chuckled. "Aren't I one?"
I gave him a side glance. "Don't get ahead of yourself, mister."
He shut the door and dissolved into laughter. "Gosh, I missed you."
Yeah, the owner of the shadow and voice was Adrian. He had finally arrived.
"But you saw me barely three days ago."
"Yeah." He replied. "And how was your weekend?"
"It was cool and good. And you?"
He beamed. "Lit and superb."
Is it just me, everyone seems to be in a good mood today.
Yeah, you're right.
"Hope you didn't wait for too long?" He asked, scrolling through his phone.
"No," I answered. "Not really."
A movement from the back caught my eye and I turned in that direction, and who did I see? The man of the hour, looking so sophisticated, untouchable and unreachable. Okay, I'm exaggerating.
He sat with his legs crossed and with his lovely companion –his phone in his hand and a headset hanging on his neck. He looked so calm and then again, he's always calm, and cool in his outfit. Although, I could only see part of it because of his position.
I inhaled and quietly cleared my throat. "Good morning." I said.
He lifted his gaze from the phone and fixed me with those beauteous orbs of his.
He blinked as if registering my presence for the first time.
"Morning." He replied. "How are you?"
"I'm fine." I answered. "And you?"
He shook his head in silent response. "You just got in?"
Now, that answers my question. He had been too engrossed in what he was doing to notice me.
Oh, you didn't notice him there until he shifted. My inner voice commented. So, it's a balanced equation.
"Not quite long." I replied.
"Okay." He mumbled. "How was the weekend?"
I smiled, softly. "It was pretty okay."
"Good."
