Saturdays were easily my favourite because most of the time, they were my free days. I get to do my own thing without the fear of being questioned or queried. And today being one, I'd hoped that I'll be spending it quietly in my house probably sleeping but apparently some other person had a special plan for me. So, here I was, standing in front of a tennis court courtesy of Adrian who by the way was smiling like he had won the lottery.
"Hey Kiara, could you hold these for me?" He held out a tennis rack and bag with a crooked smile.
I so wish I could wipe that smile off his face. It was annoying after he had practically forced me into coming in the name of work.
"Come on," he urged with a lopsided smile. "I know you want to kill me but look on the brighter side, Richard is going to be there."
Yeah, this was another reason I'd agreed to come. I hadn't seen Richard in a long while because of our ever-busy schedule.
I let out a sigh and took the bag with the tennis rack from him.
"Good girl." He grinned.
I threw him a glare and he promptly responded with a laugh.
"You're so adorable." He locked the car and kept the key in his pocket. "Come on, darling. Let's go." He threw his hand over my shoulders.
"Sweet talking won't get you anywhere," I muttered as we made our way towards the building.
"Oh?" He shoots me a side look. "Are you sure about that?" He asked with a smug smile.
I took a breath in, sparing him a glance. "You're getting on my nerves now," I replied, a slight smile drawn on my lips.
"Am I?" He laughed, nodding a greeting to the man at the desk who replied with a short wave.
"Yes." I breathed. "I could have been at home probably still sleeping or watching a movie but no, you had to drag me here. Why?"
We walked towards to set of lockers and he opened one with his name on it and kept his things inside. I noticed the same with the other lockers -they all had names inscribed on them except for one with a Roman numeral which was next to Adrian's locker.
"To keep fit." He smiled, taking his bag from me.
"But I'm already fit," I whined and he broke into laughter. "For goodness sake, I don't even play tennis."
"You can learn." He winked.
I shook my head and let out a dejected sigh.
"It's a hopeless case."
He gave a nod accompanied by a soft smile. "I'm glad you realized." He said. "Let's go, they're waiting for us."
He led me out of the locker room after securing his baseball cap into the main court where Richard and surprisingly enough Ian were. I didn't peg him for the sporty type but then again who was I kidding, he was full of surprises and I'm still getting to know him. Both of them were dressed in the same outfit of white tees and shorts with tennis shoes. The only difference between them was the bandana Ian tied on his head.
"Seems like you're a regular here," I said, watching Richard swing his bat to and fro whilst talking to Ian. They seem to be warming up for their game.
"For me and probably Richard, yes," Adrian answered.
"What about Ian?" I couldn't help but ask.
He spared me a short glance and shrugged. "Not really." He replied. "But if you're curious, you can ask him." He smiled and turned towards the court.
