It's been four months since we moved to London and one month since I started working as a house manager, the sweetest and coolest part of it was the pay check -hmm, I could still remember the huge smile I had on my face when I had collected it.
Working though hasn't been easy, I had expected that but then it's been fun particularly with Richard around. He was always teasing his friend during their conversations and whenever I tried to interfere, I got a dose of my own. Yeah, my relationship with Richard has been totally awesome. We bonded very fine over the days that followed and we've been good since then and I also got to know who my invincible boss was -Ian Bernard Calloway.
I was really dumbfounded when I discovered that I was actually working for him, Richard had a good laugh over my reaction and he never fails to remind me about that day whenever he had the chance.
Ian is a grade A actor and by that he was very popular. He has starred in so many movies and in same vein, he has won so many prestigious awards. For someone as young as himself, he was at the peak of his career. When I broke news to the girls, they were extremely surprised and shocked because we all were part of his fan base. He is currently somewhere in China shooting a movie and would be back soon.
With the times I'd spent with Richard, I realized that he wasn't just a business man but he was also a model and on some occasions an actor amongst others. Over the last couple of weeks, he had made a few guest appearances in some TV shows and so overall, this past one month had been fun for me and everyone around but right about now, I was thinking of ways to turn Krystal down and can't seem to get any.
"Kiara, you promised and I know you always keep your promises." Krystal whined bouncing on my bed.
"I can't seem remember promising you anything." I pulled a white shirt over my trousers and walked into the bathroom to fix my hair.
I did promised to take her with me to work but I was beginning to have a rethink. It wasn't like I didn't want to take her with me, of course I did because the last few days had been boring without Richard and I somehow did need her kind of energy but I couldn't bring her with me today and I had no reason why. I've literally been giving her different excuses but Krystal isn't one to easily back down. She had patiently waited till the end of her school term and brought up the idea again and now I can't seem to find any other relevant excuse.
"Sis, I think it's high time you give up. You no longer have any good excuse to come up with." She sprawled out on my neatly arranged bed, I furrowed my brows at her action. "You made a promise and you should keep to it. You know if you don't, I can always get back at you and bet, it will be at a time when you're desperate." I blanched at her words and she gave me a saccharine smile.
"Besides, I already told dad that I was coming with you and he won't be happy to hear that you abandoned me, right?" She smirked, earning an eye roll from me.
Now if you were wondering, that's the kind of sister I've got. She is a very good manipulator.
"Kiara, please, I can't stay in this house alone." She sprang out of the bed and walked to me smiling like a Cheshire cat. I shifted unconsciously. "Put yourself in my shoes." I stared at her nodding, arms crossed on my chest.
"Do you want me to start hearing and doing things?" She coaxed slowly, twirling a strand of my hair around her index finger. "No, you wouldn't. Right?"
I huffed. "Fine, you win." I said and she started her popular victory dance.
"Thank you." She said. "You're such a darling."
"Yeah, I know but on one condition." I added and her smile slowly disappeared.
