Life didn't remain the same ever since we relocated from our home in Santa Monica to London. Don't get me wrong, I do love London, the coffee, the posh accent of the people, the shopping spree, the early morning's bustle as opposed to quiet scenery in Santa Monica. It is fascinating. However, I wouldn't trade these to put a semi colon on my life and kiss goodbye to the place and people I knew as home. Being forced to start afresh particularly when that involves me flying almost half across the continent can be very challenging and getting used to the change takes time.

For the now, I'm the assistant breadwinner of my family and by that, I had people to look after and ensure they had a good life especially my younger sister. She is my best friend asides from my very close friend, Rosa. I wanted the best for her even better than mine.

People think of me as quiet and introverted, at least that's what they say not that I mind but the truth is, I am just your regular 22 years old lady who is trying live a normal life like every other woman out there.

Well, I guess you may be wondering who I am; I am......

"Kiara, have you by chance seen my pink jacket? I kept it in the cabinet in your bathroom."

Not quite the intro I wanted but that's it. I am Kiara Michaelson and this is my story.

"I didn't and why would you keep your jacket in my cabinet?" She frowned and I promptly rolled my eyes, "Can't you just wear something else? You are already running late for school."

"No, it's stress having to change into another dress." Krystal countered.

Now my friends, that's my sister. Everything except having to fawn over celebrities is stress.

I stepped out of my room and was met by dad's smiley face who just happened to be coming out of his room too.

"Good morning, dad." I yawned, stretching my body.

"Good morning darling, how'd you sleep?" He threw his arm over my shoulders. "Hope you slept well?" He smiled.

I nodded my response. "How has work been?" I pulled out one of the kitchen stool and sat on it.

"Tough, but overall it's getting better than before." He answered, a slight smile drawn on his lips.

Dad was a medical doctor specifically a neurosurgeon. He was transferred here on a global project with some of his colleagues from other parts of the world and he said, I quote: "I can't leave you two behind not with what's going on presently." And that my dears, is how we found ourselves on a plane to London.

Ever since the death of my mom two years ago, dad has literally been playing the role of both a father and mother -although he's trying, he's a bit awkward in it, not that I blame him and he's also the sole breadwinner of the family. It hasn't been easy for us but we managed to scale through.

"Krystal, have you seen what you are looking for?" I inquired.

"Yes." Krystal replied, walking into the living room.

"Have you thought of the job I told you about?" Dad asked.

"Yea, but I don't think I'll be able to fit in but don't worry I'll find something to do," I turned in my seat and glanced at Krystal. "Besides, I don't want to babysit a certain someone." I shoved a slice of pancake into my mouth.

"What are you trying to insinuate dearest sister?"

"Nothing." I shrugged, "Absolutely nothing." I smiled.
