A/N: Triple update. Please make sure to read Chapters 7 and 8 first.
Taehyung POV:
Although Jimin insisted I take some more time off, I couldn't sit in that empty house any longer. Everywhere I looked were memories of Y/N and it killed me to be there for longer than necessary. I needed the distraction of work to take my mind off of everything that had happened.
I walked into the company shortly after 9, hoping to catch Jimin before he started his meetings. I wanted to see about coming to stay with them for a little while after Lenore and Alex went back to Spain. I stopped at the open door to Jimin's office.
Jimin was crouched down next to Jungkook who had his head in his hands. "It was so weird Jiminie. It looked like Y/N but it was like talking to a stranger. I didn't even know what to say to her," Jungkook said, his voice shaky.
Jimin rubbed his back, trying to soothe his boyfriend. He looked up and his eyes filled with panic when he saw me standing there. "Um... Tae... I didn't expect to see you," Jimin said, standing.
Jungkook whirled around in the chair, wiping his eyes. "I'm... I'm sorry Tae," he said.
I stepped into the office, closing the door behind me. These were my friends and we were all hurting. "Please. Please don't hide your pain and feelings from me. We should be doing this together," I said.
Jungkook nodded. "You're right, but you usually are," he said with a small smile.
"I understand what you mean about talking to a stranger," I said. "It was so weird a couple days ago to physically see the woman I love but to not be able to talk to her. I didn't know what to say to her either."
Jimin patted my shoulder. "It was the same for me," he said, his eyes distraught. "She's my best friend and I didn't even know how to act around her. She... she called me Jimin."
My heart broke for my friend. Y/N hadn't called him Jimin in so long. He was always Jiminie to her. "Is she going to come back to work?" I asked.
Jungkook nodded. "It sounds like it. She mentioned it this morning when I went to see her. Maybe being back in the office will bring some familiar memories back," he said, his words hopeful, but the tone completely different.
"Her parents are looking for an apartment for her right now. I didn't think she would be comfortable coming back to the house. At least not now," I said, picking at the cast on my wrist.
Jimin nodded. "That was probably smart," he said.
"Is... is it okay if Yeontan and I stay with you guys for a little while?" I asked. "Once her parents go back to Spain, I don't want to be in the house alone."
Jungkook nodded. "Of course Tae. Anything for you." He hesitated then asked, "Are you going to keep the house?"
I shrugged. "I don't know. I really don't know. I've been planning all of this around our future together, but that future doesn't exist anymore. It may be best to just sell it and give her half of the money."
Jimin looked at me in surprise. "Are you letting go already?" he asked.
I didn't know how to respond to his question. Part of me wanted to hang on forever, hoping that one day she would suddenly remember who I was and everything would go back to normal. The other part, the more realistic part, was telling me to let her go and let her live her new normal.
Jimin hugged me suddenly. "Hang on for a little bit longer Tae. Please. Don't let go just yet," he pleaded.
His words were so familiar to the words her mom had said yesterday. I just didn't know how long I could hang on for.
Y/N POV:
I was scrolling through the photos on my phone, looking at pictures of the house I shared with Taehyung, when my parents returned. The house was definitely beautiful and decorated exactly how I would have done it. The room I was guessing was the master bedroom had pale grey walls, dark furniture, and fluffy black and white bedding. There was a large framed photo of Taehyung and I, along with a sign that said 'Always Kiss Goodnight.'
"Hi sweetie," my mom said as she came in the room. "How are you today?"
"The pain gets a little better everyday," I replied.
"Good news. We found you a cute little place," my mom said. "It's about a 5 minute walk from the company."
"Oh... that's great," I said, halfheartedly. I wondered why I wasn't as thrilled about the news as I should be. Part of me was hoping that there would be nothing and I would have to go back to the house I shared with Taehyung.
"We paid the rent for the first three months and the owner said you can move in whenever. We already have the keys and everything," my dad said.
"I talked to Tae and he's going to ask Reenie or Rosie to come and pack up your clothes for you. The apartment is furnished so you wont have to worry about that. Dad and I will go today and get linens, groceries, and necessities. This way everything will be ready," my mom explained.
"Um... why are the girls packing my stuff? I can do it, right?" I asked.
My mom and dad looked at each other. "This is for the best sweetie. This way you don't have to go back to the house before you're ready," my mom said, her voice soft.
This seemed like it was moving fast. Too fast. I had been unconscious for 10 days. I had only been awake for 4 and already I had a new place to live and my clothes were getting packed up for me. I was starting to feel a pain in my chest and knew it was an anxiety attack coming on. The doctor had warned me that I might start having anxiety attacks. He told me to think of something calming and count backwards from 20.
I laid my head back and tried to think of something calm. I tried to picture fluffy kittens but it wasn't helping. The only thing coming to mind was Taehyung. I pictured the man with the dark blond hair and the coffee colored eyes. Almost immediately, I felt myself starting to calm down. I don't know why the image of him was calming to me, but it was.
As I started to come down, I explained to my parents what the doctor had told me. My mom's face was wet with tears and my dad's face was tight with worry. "Do... do you think you'll be okay living on your own? Or would you like to come back to Spain with us?" my dad asked.
The idea of being in a different country than Taehyung made me panic again so I quickly shook my head. I wanted to be here. Be here around the people who knew me. The people who loved me. The man who loved me. So hopefully I could love him again.
