58 - You Don't Have To Say Anything

"Where are you going, papa?" Max asked Magnus, who was snapping his fingers and making suitcase after suitcase appear for Alec's and his holiday.

"I'm taking daddy to a special place, sweetheart. He's been working too hard recently," Magnus replied, stopping his summoning of suitcases to give Max a kiss on his cheek. Magnus was standing in the middle of the loft whilst Max was sitting on the sofa, staring at his father with suspiscion.

"Why can't I come?" Max asked with a pout.

"Well you see," Magnus started, wondering how to phrase his thought, "Daddy and I might be um playing grown up games a  lot."

And as if on cue, Alec entered the sitting room from the bedroom, Rafe by his side.

"Magnus, please tell me I heard that wrong," he said, giving Max a peck then Magnus a peck.

"You didn't, Alexander," Magnus admitted with a sheepish grin. "It is true though."

Alec narrowed his eyes at Magnus and only stopped when the doorbell rang. Magnus flicked the door open and in came Jace, smiling widely at Max who bounced into his arms.

"Uncle, uncle!" he cried, "Papa and daddy are going to a place to play grown up games! Why don't you go to?"

Jace paled, Magnus looked sorry and Alec wanted to punch him.

"Look, blue bottle," Magnus said hastily, "We don't talk about this game."

"Oh," Max wondered thoughtfully, "Okay."

"Good," Jace said and waved his free hand at Rafe. "Ready to go with uncle Jace on a magical adventure?"

Max cheered and Rafe smiled, going over and holding Jace's hands. "Well, um, you two have fun playing your games. Clary and I will look after the kids." Jace departed. "Have fun!" he called from the foot of the stairs. Alec turned to Magnus.

"I can't believe you told him that!" Alec screeched. Magnus walked over, laid a hand on Alec's chest and gave him a small kiss, hoping to distract Alec.

"He wanted to know why he couldn't come along!" Magnus argued and Alec gave an exasperated sight before looking Magnus in the eye.

"We'll have to have boy talk about that with our boys at some point," Alec sighed then shook his head.

"About sex?" Magnus asked casually and Alec gave a big sigh again.

"Holiday time maybe, Magnus?" he asked, anything to get out of the conversation.

"Yeah, probably," Magnus agreed and summoned a Portal before sending all their luggage through. He then held his hand out for Alec.

"Shall we?" Magnus asked with a charming smile that made Alec smile dopily. Alec linked his hands with Magnus' and both stepped through the Portal, Alec immedaitely gasping.

It was a cabin in the wood, all the walls except the bedroom one made of glass, giving a beautiful view into the woods. Alec turned to Magnus, stammering and trying to describe the wonderous cabin and thank Magnus at the same time. Magnus held a finger to Alec's lips.

"You don't have to say anything," Magnus said and pulled Alec close, "Just relax and have fun."

Alec smiled, thankful for Magnus who understood everything that Alec wanted to say even if he physically couldn't get the words out. Alec's hands came around Magnus' waist before they started kissing.

After a few moments of that, Magnus pulled away and leaned his head on Alec's shoulder. "There's a nice lake not too far from here. Evening picnic there?"

"Anything you want, Magnus," Alec replied.

"I want you," Magnus said with a wink.

"I'll have you known I'm all yours then," Alec murmured back before giving Magnus a soft kiss.

"That's nice to hear," Magnus muttered once they pulled away. "But seriously. A picnic by the lake?"

"Sure, Magnus," Alec reassured and after a quick change of clothes, both headed down to the lake, Magnus spreading a blanket and making fruits, cakes and sandwhiches appear.

"I'll pay the company later," Magnus said to Alec, who was always dubious about Magnus stealing slash borrowing food from all over the world. Alec laughed and sat down on the blanket, reaching for a piece of fruit.

After most of the food was gone and as the sky started darkening, Magnus leaned back against a tree and Alec lied down on his warlock's lap.

"How did the cabin come about, Magnus?" Alec asked as his eyes closed, Magnus' fingers in his hair soothing him.

"Ragnor, Catarina and I bought it some time ago. We swore that this would be the place where all three of us, sometimes Tessa, could come to forget about the real world and have time for just the four of us. And then it became a kind of home we'd escape to when life got tough. I wanted to bring you here to, I don't know, see this part of me? I spoke to Cat and Ragnor about it and they were fine with it; they thought after all you have been doing for the Downworld, we could trust you here.

We did swear that none of our partners would be allowed to visit this place, but I suppose you've taken us all by surprise, Alexander. Especially me. After romantic disasters, we knew that this would be just for us. Just for friends. But I think we all also know that you are the best person I could've hoped for and everyone trusts you, Alec. After everything you've done and are still doing. I wanted to bring you here to know that you could fall back on us too, Alexander. And so that you could have fun too."

"Magnus, that's really sweet. And thank you for trusting me with this place which obviously has a lot of history. A lot of personal history," Alec said softly, opening his eyes to see Magnus leaning down and pressing a kiss to Alec's forehead.

"I'm glad you like it," Magnus said after a pause.

"Why wouldn't I? It's a part of you and I love everything about you."

"Damn you for making me sentimental," Magnus mumbled and Alec laughed, shortly followed by Magnus.

"Well, it's gotta happen sometime," Alec sighed and sat up, so that he could finish the evening with a much-needed kiss.
