18 - Here, Drink This. You'll Feel Better

Last night had been terrible. More than terrible. A fight broke out at the Spiral Labyrinth and considering it was full of warlocks, inatimate objects, as well as some people, were on fire. Magnus had exerted himself in controling the situation and keeping Tessa safe as she fled with the Book of White. After that, Magnus only just made it to the loft before collapsing in Alexander's arms. The effect of so much exertion had lead to severe magic depletaion and Magnus had also caught a fever and was unable to heal himself as he had no magic left in him. It did not help that it was winter and it was chucking it down.

Alec looked at Magnus, who was fully coiled around Alec and when Alec gave a small kiss to the warlock's forehead, he was concerned by the heat radiating of him. Magnus had caught a fever. Alec tried getting out of bed to get some medicine but he was stopped by Magnus, who had a really strong hold of him.

"Alexander," Magnus whined, "Please don't leave. I'm so cold and just - just don't leave, please." Alec's heart broke.

"Hush. I'm just going to get some medicine and a warm drink for you. I'll be back before you know it, love," Alec said gently.

"No, no, no," Magnus protested.

"Shush, Magnus. Just a warm drink and I'm going to be back."

Reluctantly, Magnus let go of Alec and Alec wrapped himself in a grey robe before going to the medicine cabinet and fishing out some tablets for fever and making a cup of hot chocolate. Alec topped it off with some cream and went back into the bedroom, to find Magnus shivering. Alec deposited evrything he was holding onto the bed-side table and got into bed.

Magnus latched onto Alec like a koala. He clung at the lapels of Alec's robe as if it gave him life.

"Hey, hey," Alec murmured, "You're okay, Magnus. I'm right here."

"So - so cold," Magnus muttered and Alec made Magnus sit up. He reached for the warm cup of chocolate and held it to Magnus' lips.

"Here, drink this. You'll feel better," Alec nudged and Magnus took a sip and shivered as the warmth went through his body. And then he devoured the rest of the chocolate.

"Better?" Alec asked.

"Yes, Alexander," Magnus whispered and Alec finally persuaded Magnus to eat his tablets. Magnus settled back against Alec and closed his eyes, thankful for the warm body. Alec made soothing sounds and brushed back Magnus' hair as Magnus fell asleep.

When Magnus awoke the next time, he felt so much better than he had been feeling. Alec was still there, propped up against the headboard, one hand around Magnus and another holding his phone. His lips quirked up at times and Magnus decided to inquire.

"Something funny going on?"

Alec gave Magnus a surprised look, kissed his forehead and muttered, "You're awake."

Magnus smiled. "I am."

"Feeling okay, Magnus?" Alec asked.

"Yeah, thank you," Magnus answered.

"Of course."

"So why do you keep grinning at your phone?" Magnus asked, intrigued.

"Jace just keeps sending funny texts." 

Magnus nodded, in no mood to ask what the funny texts were. Instead, he got up and out of bed and regretted it immediately. He fell back, right on top of Alec. Alec dropped his phone looked at Magnus with an amused look.

"Well, hello," Alec murmured and leaned up until he was kissing Magnus. Magnus cupped Alec's cheek and kissed back, his want for a bath all forgotten. All that mattered was Alexander.

"Alexander..."Magnus murmered.

"Hi," Alec whispered back and pulled away slightly. "That was a very graceful fall you had there," he added and Magnus gave him an offended look.

"I'm as graceful as a swan when I am not feeling like crap," Magnus said and Alec grinned.

"I know," Alec said and Magnus kissed Alec again, not wanting to do anything else in that moment and possibly for eternity. It was Alec who broke the kiss.

"What were you getting up for?" Alec inquired.

"A bath," Magnus answered and after gently moving Magnus, Alec got up. 

"Where are you going?" Magnus asked, raising an eyebrow.

"To set up a bath," Alec answered and disappeared into the bathroom, leaving Magnus somewhat smitten.
