Alec and Magnus were on the sofa, both at opposite ends, with a homely silence around them both. Alec had a book in hand whilst Magnus was watching an awful romcom on TV. Normally, they watched romcoms together, but today, they had both silently agreed on doing separate things, with a domestic silence around them both.
The quiet was interrupted when Alec's phone went off. Alec put his book down and picked up his phone, answering Jace.
"Yo bro, how's everything going?" Jace asked casually.
"Hi, not too bad thanks," Alec answered, "What's up?"
"Well you see," Jace started, which immediately got Alec worried, "I thought that a handfull demons was a good estimate for a more than a dozen demons and so I might need some help."
Alec face-palmed. Why was Jace one of the main heroes of the war?
"Are you out fighting them?" he inquired, voice calm.
"No, Clary and Izzy are. I just got a call from Clary and she said, ahem, not nice things about my strategy planning and instructed that I get down there. Upon further inquiry, I gather that there are too many demons and that my parabatai's expertise might be needed."
"Where are we going, Jace?" Alec asked in a fed up tone.
"Central Park," Jace said.
"See you soon."
"Thanks my bro!"
Alec hung up and turned to Magnus, his face falling. They were meant to be going to a party held at Catarina's place and get a little tipsy before coming home and ending the night with lazy kisses and small cuddles. Magnus, only partly listening to his boyfriend's conversation, still picked up Alec's tension with one look at him.
"What's wrong, Alexander?"
"Well, I'm needed to fight demons at Central Park," Alec said quietly and then sighed.
"Oh darling," Magnus murmured moving closer to Alec and cupping the Shadowhunter's cheek and placing a small kiss on his lips. "I'll tell Catarina that we can't make it."
"No, no," protested Alec, "You go. There's no reason why you can't go, Magnus."
"But -"
Alec silenced him with a finger to his lips.
"You will be going and I will see you later," Alec said with finality in his voice. He then got up and dressed himself in gear before thoroughly arming himself. He came back to the sitting room and kissed Magnus.
"When's the party again?" Alec asked once they pulled back.
"Hour-ish," Magnus replied.
"You better get ready, you'll need all that time," Alec teased, still sensing the slight heaviness in Magnus.
"Darling, I don't have to go to this party," Magnus argued once again.
"Magnus. It's okay, love. These demons sound like they'll take some time to kill and after I'll go to the Institute, help write up a report, have a shower and come back home. By that time, you'll probably be home and then we can still get to sleep together. It'll all work out."
"Are you sure?" Magnus asked, Unglamoured eyes peeking into Alec's.
"Yes," Alec confirmed and kissed Magnus goodbye. He paused on the threshold of the front door. "Have fun, Magnus. Please."
Magnus smiled and blew a kiss to Alec.
"Your wish is my command, Alexander."
Alec grinned and 'caught' the kiss before running to Central Park, where he met Izzy, Clary and Jace.
Meanwhile, like Alec suggested, Magnus took his time getting ready, grinning like a love-sick puppy whenever he thought of Alec - majority of the time. The way Alec considered everything Magnus might ever want before he made a choice shook Magnus to the bone.
After centuries of being taken advantage off, it seemed more like magic than anything Magnus could ever do everytime Alec showed the simplest gestures of love or even thought about how something might affect Magnus. Magnus was surprised and awed by the Shadowhunter who had completely transformed his world. He hoped he's always be surprised by his Shadowhunter.
"Thanks for coming, Alec," Clary said with a glare at Jace. They were back at the Institute and had finished the takeout they had bought on the way to the Institute after killing the demons. "Thanks for filling in because someone can't do maths."
"Glad to be of service," Alec grinned and with a soft punch at Jace, Alec took Clary's Portal to the loft. He then used his key to go inside and found Magnus was already home and was on the couch.
"Didn't expect you back so soon," Alec commented, "Did you even go?"
"Oh, Alexander!" Magnus exclaimed and sat up and made room for Alec on the sofa. Alec sat down and tugged Magnus close to him, who was in no way shape or form complaining.
"I just got home maybe ten minutes ago," Magnus explained after he kissed Alec's temple, "Everything okay with the demons?"
"Yeah it was fine. I would've come home earlier, but because I thought you'd still be at the party, I spent some time with Jace, Izzy and Clary. Had takeout at the Institute,"
"They let you have takeout rather than bland Institute food at the Institute!?"
Alec laughed as he nodded. "It was good catching up with Jace, Izzy and Clary as well," he added.
"Glad you had fun, sweetheart," Magnus murmured.
"Did you have fun? You don't even seem tipsy."
"Just because I had little alcohol does not mean I did not have fun. I did have fun and maybe it did work out fine, because it was good catching up with Cat and Ragnor and Tessa as well."
"Told you it'd be fine," Alec stated and kissed Magnus on the lips softly. "We both got to spend some quality time with the people we love."
"And now I can spend time with someone else that I Iove lots," Magnus muttered.
"I do look forward to that," Alec said back with a small smile and then suddenly remembering, he asked, "You had dinner at that party, right? Or do you want me to make you something?"
Magnus smiled at the sight of Alec fussing over Magnus' wellbeing, smiled at the thought of the person he finally fit with, smiled at the wonder that was Alec.
"We had dinner, Alexander. And seeing you did as well, time to sleep?"
Alec nodded and stood up, Magnus following shortly after. Both walked to the bedroom, got changed and fell into bed, Alec tucked into Magnus' arms.
"Good night, my love," Alec muttered sleepily as he pressed a kiss to Magnus' neck.
"Night, Alexander," Magnus said back and kissed Alec's hair before ruffling it, "Sleep well."
"And you, Magnus."
Magnus turned the lights off with a snap of his fingers and started playing with Alec's hair as he himself closed his eyes, thinking about how he always liked adventures, how he liked the feeling of love as it buried itself into his heart. How his heart had wandered through many people in the time he had been alive.
But with those thoughts, came Alec, his brilliant blue-eyes Shadowhunter who still surprised him and who still turned his skin to fire with the smallest of touches. Words from long ago, words which he had read somewhere wound themselves into his mind:
'I do not ever want another love'.
A/N I don't even know what happened with the ending or whether it's happy or sad, but I like it, so I'll keep it, lol. Leave a comment and vote if you liked the chapter!
Love, IC XXXX 😍😘🥰
