A/N Double-update, here we go! Set early on in their relationship.

Magnus was frustrated when he got another call from the Institute. He wished that they'd stop calling him for favours. It was greatly annoying. But Magnus put his phone to his ear anyway.

"Magnus Bane, High Warlock. What's wrong now?"

"Magnus?" The warlock was surprised to hear Izzy's voice.

"Isabelle," Magnus acknowledged, "What's up?"

"Alec. He - he got injured during Patrol," Izzy explained and Magnus was all of a sudden not mad at the Institute for calling him.

"What kind of injury?"

"His leg. Demon nearly tore part of it off. He sounds like he is in agony."

"I'll be right over," Magnus informed her and with a snap of his fingers, his was dressed in a maroon shirt and blue jeans. He threw on a leather jacket to complete his outfit before creating a Portal to the Institute. As soon as he stepped through, Jace was there, with a look so raw that it hurt to look at him.

"Magnus, please help him. I don't care about anything, just - just please do something. I can't bear seeing Alec in so much pain, it - it hurts here," And Jace put a hand over his heart and Magnus' heart broke. Parabatais, he thought, knit so close they were the same person. It had been a sharp, sarcastic boy with a mending heart and a boy who looked like fragile china, with a heart of gold then. Will and Jem. Now it was a boy who was confident, with a sarcastic yet fragile heart and a boy that was scared and shy, with a heart of pure goodness. Jace and Alec. Magnus fought to keep his tears from falling.

"Where's Alexander?" Magnus pushed past the lump in his throat which was threatening to choke him.

"In - infirmary," Jace answered and Magnus could see the effort it took Jace to not crumple as he led Magnus to where Alec was. And Magnus saw him. Alec's skin, which was usually pale, was as white as the moon and his chest was barely rising and falling. Magnus immediately went and kneeled down by the bed, checking for Alec's pulse. It was there. And then Magnus touched Alec's pulse-point at his throat and let his magic flow, focusing on any points that was a danger to Alec's health.

And there was something so utterly dangerous. Demon ichor and poison in Alec's blood. Magnus turned to Jace, who looked like a ghost, with eyes wide and open.

"Ichor and poison in him. If we don't get it out then..." Magnus said quickly, he himself fearing. He was seeing Alec in part secrecy because Alec was scared of what he felt for Magnus, and how that would affect his duties as Nephilim. But even if they weren't officially dating, Magnus cared for Alec just the same. He just found Alec. He could not, would not, lose him.

"You - you can get it out right?" Jace asked, his face showing nothing but fear.

"Yes. But it will drain a lot from Alec, so much that he might - might die. But I won't let him. Hold his hand. He can draw on his parabatai's strength. And say the words of the oath over and over again. It'll help him not drift," Magnus instructed and Jace sat on the bed beside Alec, holding his hand with a firm grip, dry sobs coming out of him.

Magnus called upon his magic and placed one hand on Alec's throat and the other over his heart, and called up all his healing power. He muttered a spell, drawing all the poison to Alec's throat so that Alec would throw it up. And all the while, Jace was chanting quietly, his voice rough and uneven. Magnus felt Alec's heartbeat get stronger with each word that Jace said.

"Entreat me not to leave thee, or return from following after thee.

For wither though goest, I will go. And where thou lodgest, I will lodge.

Thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God.

Where thou diest, will I die. And there will I be buried.

The Angel do so to me, and more also,

If aught but death part thee and me."

Jace was saying the oath for the sixth time when Magnus felt it. He drew back, Alec jerked upright and threw up, a disgusting mixture full of black ichor and green poison. After throwing it all up, Jace flew into Alec's arms and Magnus looked away, cleaning up the vomit stained- bedsheet with a trial of blue magic. And the door peeped open.

"Jace?" Clary's voice. "Can you come out and fill in a report? I know you need to be here, but..."

Jace pulled away and stood up, walking away after Clary without another word. Magnus looked at Alec.

"You need to rest. Do you want to go to your bedroom?" Magnus asked. Alec nodded and got up shakily. Magnus went to Alec's side and Alec leaned on Magnus as they made their way out of the infirmary. Magnus let go of Alec to open the door when he caught a glimpse of the Shadowhunter tripping over something dizzily.

"Watch your step!" Magnus screeched just as he reached out a hand and caught Alec. Alec gave him a sloppy smile.

"Thanks," Alec whispered.

"Alexander, let's get you to your room." And that's exactly what they did. Once in Alec's room, Magnus made sure Alec was comfy in bed before sitting down next to him. Alec reached for Magnus' hand.

"Thank you for saving me. It was painful. And then I saw you trying to help me and it - it vanished. It was as if you took away my pain and replaced it with hope, Magnus. Thank you," Alec murmured and Magnus leaned over and pressed a quick kiss to Alec's forehead.

"Of course, Alexander," Magnus whispered, "Now go to sleep. You need your beauty sleep after whatever happened in your Patrol."

Alec gave a strangled laugh, Magnus' lips quirked up in a small smile and soon, Alec's soft snores and sniffles filled the room.
