"You ready to go, love?" Magnus asked Alec who was arming himself with a few seraph blades.

"Yep," Alec answered, flashing Magnus a smile.

"You won't get killed in the Shadow Market, Alexander," Magnus commented as Alec drew a few runes on his arms.

"Just doing what I'd normally do when I go outside," Alec said back with a crooked smile.

"Drawing so many sexy runes and arming yourself with a hefty ton on weapons?"

"That's the one," Alec said, "Though maybe not 'sexy' runes."

"They're so very sexy," Magnus protested with a wink.

"I'm ready to go now," Alec said, trying to avoid this conversation. It did not work very well as Magnus kept mentioning his 'sexy' runes all the way to the Shadow Market.

Magnus needed some ingredients for a potion and he needed to restock his apothecary, so they had decided to go to the Shadow Market together so they could get dinner on the way back. Alec was happy to agree to the whole ordeal but reconsidered as Magnus kept going on about his runes.

"Can we talk about anything but my runes?" Alec requested.

"How about..." Magnus mused, "How about how cute you look when you blush?"

"Anything that's not about me?" Alec was on the verge of pleading.

"Well," Magnus considered, "I can't think of anything else to talk about."

"Luckily," Alec sighed, "We're at the Shadow Market."

Before entering, Magnus pulled Alec into a hug. A hug filled with warmth, love and a feeling of home. 

Alec normally didn't go inside Shadow Markets and waited outside, as some people who Magnus bought things from were picky about Shadowhunters. Alec didn't mind, though Magnus asked him if it was okay a million times. Alec always gave the same answer.

"Of course it's okay, Magnus," he would say, "The amount of Institutes that haven't let us in. This is just the Downworld version of that. I understand that, but one day, I'll change it. Change it for us and everyone like us."

Magnus would smile a proud smile, give Alec a kiss that should not be given in public and mutter in his ear, "I know you will, Alexander."

And then he'd go inside like he was doing now, winking back at Alec. Alec would just stand and wait, hoping no one noticed him. But today seemed to be different. A boy came up to Alec.

"Y - you're Alec Lightwood?" the boy gasped in amazement, "The one who fought with Jace Herondale and is rewritting history with Magnus Bane, Lily Chen and Maia Roberts?"

"Um," Alec said, "It's just an Alliance between Shadowhunters and Downworlders. Not rewritting history or whatever."

"It will be rewritting history soon," the boy said and then shook his head. "Oh by the Angel! I'm Jacob Bridgestock."

"Alec Lightwood," Alec said, "Oh wait, you know that."

"I do!" the boy cried, "You're my greatest inspiration. You and Magnus. You see, I'm bisexual and I only managed to come out to my parents after hearing about Magnus and you."

"Did they take it well?" Alec inquired. Jacob gave an excited nod.

"A pleasure to meet you, Alec!" Jacob nearly squealed, "Oh and I like bow and arrows too. But personally I prefer crossbows."
