27 - Try Some

"Magnus!" Alec called from the sitting room, "What are you doing?"

"Something for your pretty little face to grin at!" Magnus shouted back from his apothecary.

Alec shook his head, rolled his eyes and got back to the book that he was reading. After a few moments of reading in peace, Alec's phone went off. With a groan, Alec attended it.

"Hi, Clary, what's up?" he asked into his phone.

"Raj pulled out of Patrol because he had family matters to attend to or something so could you fill in?"

"Yeah, of course," Alec said. Afterall, it was his job. "Who else is going on Patrol?"

"Simon and me," Clary answered.

"Won't that be fun?" Alec said a little sarcastically but he laughed and Clary did at the other end as well.

"Sure will. See you soon, Alec!"

"Bye!"

Alec threw his phone on the couch and went over to the spare room in the loft that had been turned into an apothecary. He found Magnus standing over his desk, making markings on a piece of paper. Alec went over and wrapped his hands around Magnus' middle from behind the warlock.

"Hi," Magnus murmured and Alec put his head down on Magnus' shoulder, feeling the sweet pull of rings and fingers in his hair.

"I gotta fill in for Patrol," Alec whispered against Magnus' skin.

"Well that's alone night thrown out of the window," Magnus muttered and Alec chuckled.

"Not my fault you've been here all evening," Alec countered and lifted his face only to give Magnus a small kiss on his neck. Alec felt the fingers in his hair pull a little harder. Alec obliged, kissing Magnus' neck again and then he moved aside the fabric of Magnus' shirt from the warlock's shoulder and placed a gentle kiss on the bare skin there. Magnus made a pleased humming sound.

"Well, be back soon,  my beautiful Shadowhunter," Magnus said a little cheerily and Alec pulled away, not before squeezing Magnus' middle one more time.

"I will," Alec promised and Magnus turned around, used his grip on Alec's hair to tug him forward for a quick kiss. With a smile, Alec detangled from Magnus and went onto getting his gear on whilst Magnus continued with his potions and experiments.

Time went quite quickly for Magnus in his apothecary. He was trying to get together a sandalwood shampoo for Alec, knowing that Alec liked that fragrance. He was hoping that it would help get ichor out better than normal shampoos, because most of the time, Alec came home with ichor everywhere and spent ages in the shower trying to get it off. 

Magnus had occasionally been called into help, but that normally led to all the ichor disappearing with a flick of Magnus' wrist. Somehow the shower stayed on for a long time afterwards and Magnus and Alec somehow didn't make it out of the bathroom till after a longer time needed for just showering.

And just as a small bit of the shampoo was finished setting into a shampoo-like consistency, Magnus heard Alec open the door and smiled, knowing that Alec was back from Patrol and was Magnus' for the rest of the night. And soon enough his angel was standing by the apothecary, halfway through taking of his gear. And like expected there was some ichor in his hair as well as his clothes. 

Magnus moved away from his desk to Alec and took the Shadowhunter's hands in his and kissed his knuckles.

"Saviour of Earth, I have something for you," Magnus informed Alec and went to one of his shelves and picked up the vial that held the little bit of shampoo that managed to set.

"What's that, love?" Alec inquired, rolling his eyes at the nickname in the process.

"Sandalwood shampoo," Magnus explained, "Should get ichor out of your hair better than others. I've added a few special ingredients."

"Oh, Magnus," Alec said happily, "That's really sweet!"

"Yeah, yeah," Magnus said dismissively, "This is what I spent the whole evening on."

"Thanks, Magnus, I'm sure this'll be amazing."

"Well, what are you waiting for?" Magnus asked playfully, "Go have a shower because I'm coming nowhere near you in the state you are currently in and try some."

Magnus thrust the vial of shampoo into Alec's hands.

"Wow," Alec said, "I'm offended."

"Well, suck it up," Magnus said and went back over to his desk to grab a notebook, "And please do get freshened up as well." 

With a playful glare at Magnus, Alec went into the bathroom, tunring the shower on and letting the warm water and the scent and feel of Magnus' shampoo wash over him.

He came out earlier than he would have done after a normal shower. That shampoo definitely worked miracles. Alec found Magnus in the sitting room rather than in the apothecary. The warlock was wearing one of Alec's sweaters, some shorts and a robe. Alec made his presence known by promptly sitting next to Magnus and putting his head on the warlock's lap. Alec immediately felt Magnus' fingers gently pulling at Alec's mop of a hair.

"Thanks for the shampoo, Magnus," Alec murmured, eyelids drooping, "It was really good on the ichor."

"Aw, I'm glad, sweetheart," Magnus whispered back gently and placed a feather-light kiss on Alec's forehead.

"Go to sleep, Alexander; you're tired," Magnus cooed and Alec gave a pleased groan in responce and turned himself around, sliding a hand around Magnus' waist.

"Thanks again, Magnus," Alec whispered.

"Stop thanking me. You not smelling like a Behemoth demon is thanks enough," Magnus retorted playfully and earned himself a sleepy "Hey!" from Alec.

"I'm only joking, Alec," Magnus said, eventhough Alec already knew that, "I'd still love you if you always smelled like ichor." That might've been a slight stretch but sleepy Alec did not question it.

"Well I won't smell like that. I've got your epic shampoo," Alec commented before giving Magnus' stomach a small kiss, liftling the shirt Magnus was wearing to be able to reach that bit of skin. Magnus took a sharp intake of breath, calmed himself down and threaded his hands through Alec's hair in the way he knew the Shadowhunter liked.

"Sleep, Alexander," Magnus said quietly and after a wordless murmur, Alec fell asleep, wrapped in a blanket of love, comfort and affection.
