97 - I'll Pick You Up At The Airport

To say that Alec was excited was an understatement. After a whole year, he was seeing his boyfriend. Well, he wasn't sure whether that was official. 

Magnus and him had been about to ask each other out when they were interrupted by Magnus' parents (they were in Magnus' house as they were already good friends) and were told that Magnus was going to the airport to catch a plane so that he can study abroad at a different university.

And Alec had been politely asked to give the Banes some privacy, so he had gone home. It was two in the morning when he got a call from Magnus.

"Magnus, what hap-"

"Alec, Alec, Alec," Magnus had been crying and his voice was torn with agony, "My parents found out I'm bisexual and they hate me for it. They're shipping me away so that I'll come out of this phase as they said. Alec, I can't do this. It's for a whole year!"

"Hey, Magnus, calm down," Alec had said softly, still trying to process what Magnus had said, "Look, it's - it's fine. When - when do you have to go?"

"They're taking me to the airport now," Magnus moaned, "I need to pack. Oh shoot, my mum's coming up. Alec, thanks for being such a good best friend. Whatever happened at my house, and whatever we'd been about to do... I think we need to step away for a minute. I'm so sorry. I'm going to miss you, Alexander."

And then Magnus had hung up on him. Alec had cried. Bathed in his own tears probably. He couldn't figure out why Magnus calling him 'Alexander' had caused him to completely break, but it had. He had cried himself to sleep. And when he had woken up, he had calmed his nerves and had called Magnus.

"Magnus," Alec had started and had just trailed off, not knowing what to say.

"Sing," Magnus had said and Alec had stuttered, stumbled but he had sung for Magnus. For the next two weeks, they would call and just make small talk, hearing each other's voice. After that, they began discussing more serious things and went onto sharing every little secret. Everything except crushes and that. 

They had both hinted that they liked the other, but they steered clear of that topic. And yesterday, Alec had gotten a call from Magnus.

"Alec!" Magnus had screeched, "I'm coming home tomorrow!"

Alec couldn't believe it: "You are?!"

"Yes! I'm so happy. Oh, I get to actually see you in person!"

"I'll pick you up at the airport?" Alec volunteered, "Oh wait. Your parents."

"I don't care. I want to see you," Magnus said, "So if you did want to pick me up, that would be great."

"I'd love to, Magnus," Alec said, "Do you know how much I've missed you?"

Alec didn't add the next bit: "I want to be held close by you, and I want to kiss you and say that you're beautiful and that you mean the world to me".

Surely Magnus no longer felt any spark towards Alec after a year of being away. Surely he'd found someone better.

Alec had shaken himself out of his reverie, and with a smile, had carried on with his day. He was going to see Magnus.

Alec was now standing outside the airport, no doubt that Magnus would be there any minute. He was peering into the crowd when his gaze locked into someone's. And Alec knew who it was. He didn't even have to think. Magnus. His Magnus- No. Magnus.

Magnus had also seen him and was now weaving through the crowds urgently and he finally got to Alec. Magnus dropped all the luggage he was holding and threw his hands around Alec's neck, trying to stop hin upcoming wave of tears.
