The Proposal

Dany

It was a blow . There was no denying it . He had left , and now almost a year had passed . He had sent a few ravens but she had torn them up . She knew Rae had received many but she did not ask about him or what he had written . He had sent gifts for her name day . Rae had left them unopened but Dany told her that he was still her father and that Dany wanted her to have a relationship with him . She however ,did not open them , and had told Jon not to contact her and to let her and her mother heal privately . Rae seemed to sense that the best thing to do was let time heal the wound . She never discussed her father anymore . It was like they were both trying to pretend that he never existed . Dany was in awe of her daughter , she had grown up overnight . There seemed to be no trace of the childish girl that had been there only a short while ago .Dany did not know whether to be happy or sad . Her little girl was no longer a little girl . She actually wanted to go with Dany to her meetings and she knew that Rae had started spending some time with Tyrion, trying to learn the ins and outs of governance . That had never happened before .

Tyrion had told her that he was quite impressed with Rae's new attitude . He had asked about Jon and Dany had told him the truth. What was the point of lying ? Tyrion seemed surprised but said nothing . He had started treating Dany more gently and was not as combative as he used to be . Greyworm simply told Dany that Snow was not worthy of her and never had been . They both sensed that she had a broken heart that needed mending and they treated her more gingerly than they had before .

Dany thought long and hard over their whole marriage and she knew deep in her heart that she had never owned Jon's heart . In a way it made it easier to accept . She was trying her damndest to forget about him and most of the time it seemed like it was working . Of course there were those moments in her solitude that the tears would come , but that was to be expected . They had been together for years , there had been love , but not passion in many years . She knew herself , she would forget him . She was determined to do that . She was Queen Danearys Targaryen , she would not let a man ruin her least of all one that had decided to run away to the North .

She was deep in her thoughts when there was a knock on the door .

Dany: Come in .

Tyrion : It's me your Grace . I have been informed that there is a raven for you . From Winterfell .

Dany : I do not want any contact with him.

Tyrion : It's not from him . It's from Lady Stark .

Dany wondered why she would be writing . But she thought she already knew . Oberyn Martell had come to Kings Landing and had dutifully told his "Queen" what he had seen in Dorne a few months prior . He smirked as he told her that the Targaryen men had a hard time saying no to the Stark women . He meant it as a joke , but it had stung . He was immediately apologetic and told Dany she had always been too lovely for that " Northern Barbarian." Oberyn had become a source of amusement for Daenerys over the last few months . He helped take her mind off of Jon , and he was one thing that Jon had never been . Fun .
