The Proposal

Reality

Jon sent a Raven to Dany letting her know he was extending his stay in Winterfell . He knew she would not be pleased but at this point he felt the enormity of what he had missed out on .Two weeks had passed since his arrival and Sam had let him know that he felt the cure to Sansa's illness may lie in Dorne and the fact that she was better did not mean that she was cured . There was a maester / healer there of some repute that had treated ailments similar to a Sansa's . Sam felt that Sansa's treatment could be improved if she visited the healer . Jon was determined that he would take Sansa there once she was strong enough to travel . She was still quite weak but had not deteriorated either . There would have to be a decision soon regarding travel to Dorne .

His relationship with Robb was distant . Robb treated him as you would a polite stranger . As a guest . Always courteous but never warm . His mother was the same . Sometimes he caught her looking at him and there were a few glimpses of the Sansa he knew before he had left . That girl was still in there somewhere .

He had this unshakeable feeling that all was not well with her , he was eager to get her to Dorne . He may have not been there for her or Robb during so many times in their lives that he should have been but he was determined that he would see her through this illness and back to good health .

He needed to see Sam again . He wanted to expedite matters , he had to go to Kings Landing to tell Dany the truth about Robb . It would be disastrous if she found out through someone else besides him . He was unsure how long it would take Sansa to recover . Maybe he should go to Kings Landing and then return to Winterfell to make the trip to Dorne .

He needed to tell Robb and Sansa what his plans were . 

Jon asks Robb to meet him for lunch .
Robb : You asked to meet me your Grace ?

Jon( sighs ) : Please don't call me that , I'm your father .

Robb : Its not commonly known and I feel uncomfortable addressing you as such .

Jon: Alright I understand . I will wait until you feel
comfortable .

I wanted to speak to you about your mother . I wanted to take her to Dorne . Sam thinks she would benefit from seeing a healer there and I think we should go .

Robb : Yes I agree , but there's no reason for you to
accompany us . Uncle Sam and I can go with her . You should probably be getting back to your family now anyway .  We can handle it .

Jon : ( looking very hurt ) I know you're angry with me but I did not know about you . There is nothing that could have kept me away from you if I had known . You are my family too Robb .

Robb: My mother and I are Starks . You haven't been a Stark in a long time . You should go to Kings Landing and be with your wife the Queen and your daughter the future Queen .

I'm not saying this to hurt you . You're being here is upsetting for my mother , I know her very well . Let her heal , she doesn't need to see you everyday and be reminded of what she missed out on in her life . I'm not stupid I know she never married because of you .

As for me you can't miss what you have never had , I'm fine . I have my mother , Joanna ,and everyone else at Winterfell .

You should go back to your home .

With that he leaves .

Jon is left just sitting and mulling over his words .He's incredibly mature for his age , I guess that's what happens when you don't have a father and your mother has been through such a long illness . He blames Jon for Sansa never having married and never having a life partner .

It had only been a few weeks it would take a lot longer than that to heal the wounds that separation had caused . Robb may not ever accept him as his father but that did not mean that Jon would stop trying .  Sansa was another matter , he just did not want to be without her any longer . This was torture being together and not being together .  He had to go speak to her and make her understand that he could not leave her now . He instinctively starts fingering the ribbon  in his doublet that's he has had with him every day since he left her all those years ago . He had to see Dany too  and Rae and try to explain something that was unexplainable . There had to be a resolution to this it just could not go on . The truth was he had never been at home in Kings Landing , in his bones he had always been a Stark , even if his son did not believe it.  It was true the Starks had never done well in the South .
