The Proposal

Jaime

Jaime Lannister arrived in all his glory at the end of the following week just as promised . He arrived alone and Tyrion was not pleased that his niece did not make the trip but he was thrilled to see his brother . The Lannister brothers ' good relationship / friendship had deepened over the years with the death of Cersei and the addition of Shae and Brienne . The sisters in law were also good friends , even though they did seem to make an odd pair at least visually . Joanna also was the magic glue that held all the Lannister's together .

" Joanna and Brienne did not come with you?"

" No they decided to extend their stay at Winterfell . They both send their regards and I believe there are some gifts in the trunks for you and Shae and some letters for you Tyrion from Joanna ."

" I see I will miss them both , it gives us an excuse to leave for Casterly Rock a bit earlier than I had planned . Shae and I have missed her ."

" And she has missed you both as well. But she's a teenager now other things interest her ."

" Really ? Like what?"

"We will discuss it later."

Jaime and Tyrion proceeded to the castle . There were some bad memories for Jaime here in Kings Landing and he did not like to stay for very long . He had come on some official business as Warden of the West and he would leave as soon as his business was done .

Tyrion knew that Jon had had feelings for Sansa Stark and after the display the other night it seemed as if the King had never gotten over his cousin . Whenever Jaime has visited Kings Landing he seemed to go out of his way to avoid spending any time with the King . Tyrion thought this may have been due to some loyalty that Jaime held for Lady Stark , but he had never questioned him about it . It seemed that Jaime never wanted to discuss the goings on at Winterfell in front of anyone including him . Again he attributed that to the fact that Sansa had at one time been Tyrion's wife and he did not want to make things awkward for Shae , even though Sansa and Shae had been friends in what seemed like another life .

Jon ran into Tyrion later that afternoon .

" Your Grace , you told me to inform you when my brother had arrived . He arrived a few hours ago and is in the guest quarters opposite my chamber ."

" Yes thank you Tyrion . Are Lady Brienne and Joanna with him?"

" They decided to extend their stay at Winterfell ."

" Oh."

This worried Jon , did they extend their stay because of a Sansa's illness ?

Jaime took his bath, settled in , and rested for a few hours . There was a knock on the door and when opened the door he was startled to see the King himself .

" I'm sorry to disturb you Ser Jaime but Tyrion told me that you had settled in the guest chambers ."

" No it's alright Jon , I mean Your Grace ."

" Call me Jon ."

" Call me Jaime . What can I do for you ?"

" Tyrion mentioned that in your last letter you wrote that Sansa had not been well and that Lady Brienne was going to spend some time with her ."

"Yes , that's right ."

Jaime looked decidedly uncomfortable . That raised Jon's suspicions .

" Is she alright ?" Jon asked nervously .

Jaime answered after a very long , awkward pause .

" My wife and Lady Sansa are quite close as you know . They have asked me not to discuss anything related to Winterfell . I intend to keep my word .... as for her exact health I'm not exactly sure. I'm sorry if that is not helpful ."
