The Proposal

Family : Jon and Robb

Jon returned to his old chambers to sleep . They had been renovated but the feel of the rooms was unmistakably the same . After what had been one of the most shocking days of his life he felt remarkably steady, he had not even met Bran yet . Finding out about Robb had taken most of the evening . He had asked the steward to let King Bran know he would meet him for breakfast . He knew he wouldn't be able to sleep tonight . Too much had happened .

He was disappointed that Sansa had not trusted him enough to believe he could secure Robb's safety . He knew Dany was ruthless to her enemies but he knew his wife well enough to know she would never hurt Robb .He couldn't blame Sansa though , the Targaryens were not known for their rationality . He could understand her fear for Robb's safety .

Sansa looked unwell , this bothered him immensely . He would have to ask Sam about her ailments . Whatever had happened or not happened between them over the years did not change the fact that he was concerned over her health .

He had missed his son's entire life . The thought gutted him. Robb was almost a man now , not a boy . He really did not need Jon to be there now . How many times had Robb needed a father , needed him and he was not there ? Maybe Robb never resented him for his absence , but they could never get that time back now . And Sansa , Sansa would never have told him about his son if he had not returned unexpectedly . Clearly people knew who Robb's father was but no one trusted him enough to tell him or had tried to convince Sansa to tell him . It's true , he was no longer part of the pack . These thoughts were starting to overtake him when there was a knock on the chamber door .

Jon went to open it and Robb was standing there with Ghost right next to him.
" Mother said that you have probably missed him and I should let him stay with you while you are here ."
" Thank you Robb , I have missed him."

Ghost seems overjoyed to see Jon . " Looks like he's missed you too."Robb states .

" Good night I will see you in the morning ." Jon cannot believe this man is his son . A strange feeling of pride washes over him .

Robb just nods and turns towards the door and Ghost seems conflicted on whether to stay with Jon or follow Robb .

" You can stay here boy." Robb tells Ghost bending down to pet him.
Looking up at Jon he says ,
" Thank you for leaving him with my mother . He was one of my greatest friends growing up ."

Jon nods and starts feeling teary .
Robb starts to get up to leave .

" Robb how is your mother ? I mean how is her health ?. "

" Better , Uncle Sam is trying to find out exactly what is wrong with her . But I'm not sure if he even knows. She was very very sick for awhile . That's why Aunt Brienne and Uncle Jaime came ."

" You must have been very worried about her ."

" Of course she's my mother , she's done everything for me . She had always been there for me."

" Yes of course , we will see each other at breakfast ."

"Yes."

" Robb I'm very happy I met you ."

Robb nods .

Robb's words keep playing in Jons head . " She's always been there for me .... "
the natural conclusion was that Jon had not been there for anything  . The truth of that gnaws at Jon .

Another thought, " Uncle Jaime ?"
Lannister knew and that's why he always avoided Jon . How many more people know about Robb ? It was just a matter of time before Dany found out .
