Love the one your With

The dawn emerged , Sansa knew she had to play the dutiful host to the King for the next few days . His entourage needed the rest and Tormund was supposed to meet him during this time . She was not sure if she should just avoid Jon entirely or spend every waking second with him . Deep in her heart she knew he wouldn't come back and she knew she would never see him again .

She would have to see him for all the political discussions regarding the North while he was here . She was still Lady of Winterfell and Bran did not want to concern himself with the day to day runnings 0f the castle . He was technically the Lord of Winterfell and Jon had negotiated independence of the North with the new Queen of the Iron Throne so he was still the King in the North . Sansa wondered how he would run things if he was in Kings Landing . She imagined he would leave the actual governance to Bran . He had deferred to Daenerys during his last stay , that had also caused major tension between them .Sansa knew that grievance was something she could not overlook . The truth was The Dragon Queen was a fierce warrior but she seemed ill equipped for governance .
Jon was similar but he was a competent ruler , she wondered how they would manage the remaining 6 Kingdoms .

She saw Jon at breakfast he looked like he had not slept either there were dark circles under his eyes and it looked like he'd been crying . Sansa knew that she looked the same .

" Your Grace , is there anything I can have made for you during you stay in Winterfell ? ".

" No need for formality , I believe this is still my home during my stay ."

" Yes of course ."

Bran and the others joined them and then there were meetings regarding governance . As predicted Bran would be Warden of the North and the North would be independent but technically Jon would still be King for the next 5 years . That was one of the stipulations of independence , the Dragon Queen wanted her future husband to remain King for a time and then she would slowly give up any ties after the North proved its loyalty to her .She knew Jon would try to do the best he could for the North , but she still could not help but wish that Bran could be King immediately so that they were no ties to the Iron Throne . But politics is compromise and they had accepted the terms .

The meetings passed by uneventfully and then the evening was upon them . Sansa had  arranged dinners for the Lords and Ladies for a few nights  and a family dinner on the last night . She wanted to give some clothing and letters for Arya to Jon before he left . Arya has decided to stay in Kings Landing for the first year of the new rule and then she stated that she would go off to explore . She did promise to stop by Winterfell before her adventures began but she could not say exactly when that would be . Sansa has made her these clothes ages ago and she wanted Arya to have them before more time passed . She had also made clothes for Jon over the last long months before she knew about his situation with Daenerys . She had felt that in some way it made her feel useful to him . When she missed him terribly she would bring out her sewing and pour out all her emotions into the task at hand . She had to admit some of the clothing and especially the cape she had made for Jon were exquisite . But now given the circumstances it seemed inappropriate for her to give him those gifts .

The evening fell and it was time for dinner . Tormund has arrived and he provided some levity for the sadness that was evident between Jon and Sansa . Bran being Bran already seemed to know what was afoot but did not comment on the situation . Sansa sat at the far end of the table but Tormund made his way next to her by the end of the night  and put his arm around her . She smiled at him , there was genuine affection between them .

" Red why so glum ? I'd think you'd be happy that King Crow is finally here and that the North got a pretty good deal from the Dragon Queen ."

Sansa looked at him with some melancholy .
"I am happy Tormund . Just tired that's all , I think I may be turning  in early tonight . Please keep Jon company , and if you don't mind I'm not feeling all that well tonight so I think I will return to my chambers ."
