The Proposal

Decision

A few months had passed since the wedding . Sansa's health had not improved . But it had not completely deteriorated .

Things had fallen into a bit of a routine . Jon was helping Robb with various tasks that Bran would eventually entrust with him permanently once he became King . They had a formal collegial relationship.

Sansa asked Jon to have dinner with her one night in her chambers . Normally they never ate alone . They all had their meals together in the formal dining hall .

Jon did however make every effort to be with Sansa as much as he could . He felt he was making up for lost time .

Jon knocked on her chamber door .
Sansa was in a wheelchair most of her days so the door had been left open .

Jon: Sansa are you alright ?

Sansa : Yes , I'm fine . I just wanted to show you something .

She the proceeded to hand Jon the letter that Queen Daenerys had given her .

Sansa : I'd like you to read that .

Jon read it carefully .

Sansa : You know that the Queen has married Oberyn Martell .

Jon : Yes , everyone knows that . The whole Kingdom knows . What does that have to do with us ?

Sansa : Nothing and everything .
After a long pause Sansa continues, I did not want to be responsible or in any way or be the other woman . It's clear now that the Queen Daenerys has moved on . Both in word and in deed .

Jon : You were never the other woman . You never did anything to try and break up my marriage . The fact is Sansa I never would have become involved with Dany if I had known about my parentage . That is a fact . And truth be told I would not have married her if she had not been carrying my child .
You have always been embedded in my heart and in my soul. I love you . That is a very small word for what you mean to me . You know that .

Sansa : ( crying with tears in her eyes )
Then marry me .

Jon : also with tears in his eyes .
Yes . I will marry you .
He lifts her up out of her wheelchair and kisses her .
It's a deep passionate kiss . I love you Sansa Stark let's marry tonight in the Godswood .

Sansa : Tonight ? ( she feels light headed from the kiss ) she has not had any romantic physical contact in years and years .
Jon: I don't want to wait one more night and be without you .

Sansa : yes . But you have to ask me properly ( she is laughing )

Jon bends down on one knee : Sansa Stark will you marry me ?

Sansa : Yes , yes . I love you Jon . I have loved you all my life . I want to be your wife . Let's not wait another night .

The preparations are set within a few hours .

Everyone in the castle has been informed .
Robb will walk his mother down the aisle .
Joanna is thrilled to be the one helping her mother in law get dressed and look beautiful for her new husband .

Sansa is wearing a white gown that she had made many moons ago for Robb's name day . It fits because was this thin all those years ago . After she has been bathed and perfumed by her maids .She carefully dresses and put on her best jewelry and finery with Joanna's help .
She feels beautiful .

Robb and Joanna tell her how beautiful she looks . The maids have tears in their eyes for their Lady Sansa . She has waited a long time for this moment . She has been lonely and has been sick . The ones that love Sansa are truly happy that she has finally agreed to marry Jon .
