The Proposal

Dany and Sansa

Jon knocks on the door . Sansa is seated in her wheelchair with her face to the fire in the solar . She does not know who is there .

Jon: Sansa , Queen Daenerys is here to see you .

Sansa turns around in the wheelchair . She gets up after a lot of effort .

Dany is shocked to see Sansas condition .

Dany : Lady Sansa , I believe we have a lot to discuss .I've read your letters and thought it best to discuss things openly once and for all .

Sansa : I agree Queen Daenerys .

Dany : Come Lady Sansa , we've shared the same man for close to 20 years, you can call me Daenerys .

Jon looked down .

Sansa : He was never mine , he left me and never once looked back . So I hardly call that sharing .

Jon is miserably silent .

Dany turns to Jon : I would appreciate it if you could leave us alone .

Sansa : Yes Jon please go .

Jon looks at both women and then leaves .

Sansa : Thank you for coming .

Dany : Truth be told I did not want to come , but frankly curiosity got the best of me . I wanted to meet you face to face  again and see what my husband has been pining for all these years .

Sansa : Well now you know . ( There is a long uncomfortable pause ) .

I just wanted to tell you that I never had any contact with him until he returned recently . Not any letters , no meetings , nothing . I never even told him about Robb . I never once tried to take him away from you or your daughter . You must know that .

I just wanted to secure my only child's safety while I was still alive . Surely you can understand that as a mother .

Dany : No harm will come to him from me or my daughter as long as he relinquishes any claim to the Iron Throne . You have my word .,

Sansa : Yes you have my word . I never want him to leave the North . This is our home . He is a Stark . We belong here .

Dany chuckles : Well weather you like it or not he is part Targaryen . However , I agree with you he should stay in the North . Sadly his father never adjusted to Kings Landing . His discomfort always caused me guilt . He could never overcome his Stark nature .

Sansa : It is a part of him , why would he want to overcome it .

Dany : I truly don't know why he left if he wanted to stay here so badly . I never forced him to leave here or marry me .

Sansa : Yes but once you were with child , the die was cast . He would never leave his child since he grew up without a mother . I'm ashamed to say that my mother never treated him well . I wish she had known that my father never betrayed her , things would have been so different . Jon would have had more love and a normal upbringing . He did not want his child to grow up without both parents the way he did . I knew he would never stay here and miss out on raising  his child . I told him to leave . Little did I know that I would find myself with child on the day of your wedding . After he became your husband , I never sought him out . I respected your marriage . You must believe me Queen Daenerys .

Dany : You were not there but your presence was a shadow between us from the first day to the last . There were always 3 people  in my marriage to Jon . He could never love me the way that I loved him . I wish I had learned my lesson earlier . I wouldn't have wasted so much of my life with him.

Sansa : He did love you . He was with you . You say that I was a shadow between you , but how can you stay away from someone you love year after year ? He did not love me . Every day he spent in Kings Landing was proof  of that and his commitment to you . I made peace with that a long time ago . It's hard to pine over something that was never yours . So ..... with that in mind I devoted myself to my son . I do want him to have one parent after I die . You must know that I'm not keeping well these days .  I do want Jon to be his father . I hope you do not object to that . If possible I want him to have a relationship with your daughter . They are family to each other .

Dany : It seems Jon in trying to do the right thing did the wrong thing by everyone . I have no objection to him being a parent to your son . I'm not a monster . I also don't want to be tied to Jon any longer . I have asked the High Septon to dissolve our marriage and revoke his Kingship . He can stay in the North forever for all I care . As for Rae , it's her choice if she wants a relationship with your son , and if he's of no threat  to her , I won't stand in her way .

Sansa : Why do you want to dissolve your marriage ? Jon and I have no relationship .

Dany: ( laughing ) Everything  is not about you or Jon , Lady Sansa , this is about me . I want to be free of him .

Sansa : I see . Does Jon know ?

Dany : Not yet . I'm sure he will be relieved as well . I intend to tell him as soon as I leave the chamber .

Sansa : I think we have  an understanding regarding our children .

Dany: Yes , I believe we do .
