Chapter 30 : Who Are You? (Ep. 2|Part 1)

Hope's POV

It's been a week. A week of hunting down the troll. A week consisting of me hurting the troll, said troll hiding from me, I find it and repeat. I probably smell bad, since I haven't had a change of clothes or took a shower. I've been sleeping in the woods sometimes it talking to hologram Josie for company. For food, I want to buy things at the convenience store, but I don't have that kind of luxury, since I only had 5 dollars to spare, so I couldn't do that often. I spent all my money on the bus ticket to New Orleans. So I've been living off of berries or deers or whatever I can find in the forest. I mostly stick with the berries though, because hunting takes a lot of my time and I don't want to waste time.

When I go picking berries, I think about Josie. If she were with me she probably would be teaching me all about the plants here. I miss her. But I don't waste my time moping around and crying about Josie. As much as it hurts I can't do anything about it, plus I have more important things to attend to. All I care about right now is finding the troll and leaving town, and that's why I'm here in Mystic Falls High school, I followed the troll's trail of blood from the woods leading me here. I move inside and see blood just outside the janitors closest. "Dissera Portus." It's empty.

Just when I'm about to enter and make sure it really isn't there. A voice is heard.
"Aren't you a little short for a janitor?" I turn and see a boy, most likely a student.
"It's nice to know I'm not the only one trying to hide out on the first day of school." He chuckles.
"Oh, no, I-I wasn't hiding. I-I was, um, uh, I was looking for the principal's office."
"Well, you're in luck. I'm new, too, but I'm pretty sure that's him right behind you." Then we walk away. I turn around and see Dr. Saltzman? Why is he here?
"Hi. I'm Principal Saltzman. Who are you?" He asks
"Um. I'm Hope Marshall. I'm new here."
"Oh. In that case, let's go talk in my office." We then walk to his office.

Josie's POV

After my shower, I went back to find Lizzie doing yoga. Apparently, her opinion on yoga changed after spending summer with mom. And it turns this is her semester of yes, she's been really happy lately. And I'm happy for her. I hope I can have that someday. Be happy, not happy-ish. After I get changed I grab my class schedule and head to the common to talk to my friends. After a few minutes, I see Landon walk in. And some asks for his autograph? Okay. I end my conversations with Jackie and when I turn in Landon's direction I see Jessica writing 'hey...' and it appears in gold letters. Then she walks away. And that makes me extremely jealous, but I do my best to mask it. Then I walk over to him.

"Hey. So you're popular now." I observed.
"Of course. Why wouldn't I be?"
"Uh, too popular to still take me to dinner tonight?" I ask awkwardly.
"No. We have to get the first date out of the way sometime, right?" He replies. I nod my head nervously. He notices it.
"That was a joke. Yes. I'm excited."
"Oh. Me, too. Uh, do you know where your classes are?" I asked pulling out his schedule from my bag. "Yes. On that."
"Oh. Good." I hit his with mine.
"You don't need this, then. I will... I'll see you at assembly." I say. "Yeah. Okay."
He goes for a hug while I go for a kiss.
"Oh." I chuckle and back away. And hug him. And he awkwardly kisses my cheek. I pull away. "Okay." Then he walks away. Well... That was awkward.

After my awkward encounter with Landon, I went to breakfast with Lizzie, we talked about what our plans and goals are for this year. After breakfast, we headed to the grand hall for assembly. When we get there I told Landon to sit with us. Lizzie rolled her eyes but agreed, but not without taunting Landon. When Landon came to sit next to me Lizzie addressed him.
"Chicken Little" he just ignored her and sat beside me. Just then headmaster Vardemus walked up to the podium and said his speech. Saying that 'this year will be different.' And saying 'the future is supernatural' Everyone was listening intently. And to end his speech he gave Landon a medal for defeating Malivore, everyone cheered. I don't know why but something feels off about the new headmaster, that or I'm just used to dad being in charge.
