Chapter 25 : A Curse On The Gemini Twins (Ep. 15|Part 2)

Hope's POV

I'm in Dr. Saltzman office trying to contact my Aunt Freya. After the second ring she pick up. "Hey aunt Freya."
"Hope. Is everything okay?" she asks.
"Yeah everything's good. How have you guys been, how's Nik?" I ask.
"He's good. We're good." she replies.
"I miss you guys."
"We miss you too, Hope." 
"You didn't just call me to check on us. So what's going on?" she asks. I chuckle. She knows we so well.
"Aunt Freya do you know anything about something called The Merge?" I ask.
"Yeah. Why do you want to know?"
"I'm just asking for a friend."

"Well. The Merge is a curse placed on the Gemini Twins." she states.
"Wh-what kind of curse?" I ask worried.
"When Gemini twins turn 22, the Merge will determine who will lead the coven, and only one will survive. They are required to perform the Merge, through which their consciousness and strength would be merged together. " she replies.
"What does 'merged together' even mean?" I ask.
"Um well... The stronger twin survives the spell and is empowered by their magic as well as the magic of their twin. The weaker twin's consciousness and magic, however, is drained away and dies."

Dies. One of them is going to die. Why does this always happen to me.
"Hope you still there?"
"Sorry aunt Freya. Umm. Has anyone survived the merge ?" I ask my voice breaking, tears falling on my face.
"Not that I know of. Why are you asking about this Hope?"
"Aunt Freya is there any way to stop it, or-or a loophole?" I ask in between sobs.
"Hope are you alright?" she ask.
"It's Josie, she's a Gemini Twin." I state.
"Josie Saltzman? You care about her?" "Yeah she's my girlfriend." 
"Do you love her?" she asks. "Yeah I do."
"Okay... Don't worry Hope I'll try to find a solution. I'll call you when I find something."

"Thank you aunt Freya."
"Anything for you Hope. I love you, Always and Forever."
"I love you too. Always and Forever." I hang up the phone and just then Dr. Saltzman walks in. "I need to talk to you about Raf." he starts but I stop him.
"I have to say something first. Freya just explained the Merge. Josie's pretty much figured it out, and, uh, Lizzie is spiraling. So, either you do it or I will, but it's time to tell them the truth." I state, wiping my tears away. He looks at me shock on his face. He takes a deep breath and sighs looking broken. "I have to go." I state trying my best to not fall apart and break down.

"Wait. Where are you going?" he asks.
"To the docks. I need time to think."
"Josie's going to need you after I tell them this." he reminds me.
"She's mad at me... And-and I can't provide any comfort when I'm like this. How am I supposed to tell her its going to be okay, when I don't believe it myself. Huh?" I ask. He stays silent so I walk out the door and head for the docks. When I get there I try to calm myself down and stop crying. It's not over yet. I can still stop the merge. I keep repeating to myself. When I finally stop crying and calm down, I place the prism on the bench and Landon appears next to me. I might as well continue what I've been doing, and maybe ask for advice.

"Hey". I smile at him sadly. I then I go straight to the point.
"What I said before about wanting to protect you, that was true. But I also didn't want you to go. And, yeah, you know what, I hate it when people leave. I hate it. I thought I was over losing my parents, but I don't know, after the last couple of days and after seeing you lying there in the woods, thinking that you were dead... And now I might lose Josie too... " I say my voice breaking at the last part. Tears falling on my face. "Every time I lose someone, this, uh, voice in my head, it tells me, 'It's your fault.' That I shouldn't even technically exist. That I'm a cosmic mistake. "

"Oh, I don't know. I guess I just wanted someone to think that I'm worth staying for. I'm sorry for lying to you, Landon. I wanted you to stay because I really care about you." I say sadly. He smiles at me reassuringly but he still stays silent.
"How would he react to all that?" I ask.
"I mean, that was how he'd react. Landon's a good guy. He will forgive you. And yes, he left but he just probably got blinded by his anger. He will understand and he will forgive you." he responds.
"Now let's get to the point to why you actually wanted to use the prism. " I look at him confused.
