Chapter 15 : It's Nap Time (Ep. 9)

Landon's POV

When Hope told me the kiss was just a mistake, it hurt. To her, the kiss was just a mistake, something she would never do again. I really like Hope, and I know she liked me once, so maybe I can get her to like me again. But I also don't want to ruin my relationship with her now. But I mean it wouldn't hurt if I tell her that I'm still an option right? With all these thoughts I can't sleep. Raf still isn't back, since after his workout with the wolves he went to the library to study for the exams. Luckily I don't have to take any, since I'm still new.

As just as I'm about to drift off to sleep Raf calls me and tells me theirs an emergency meeting in the Grand Hall. We get there and see students in their pajamas, with Dr. Saltzman standing up the steps.
"Yesterday, I came into possession of another Malivore artifact. It was my hope to find a method of containment before it signaled another monster, but given the emergency meeting I've just called, I'm sure you can guess how well that went." Dr. Saltzman informs us.
"Do you see Hope anywhere?" I ask Raf he looks around then shakes his head.

I really want to talk to Hope and maybe ask her for a chance or something.
"But rest assured we are taking every precaution. Sheriff Donovan has been kind enough to open the doors of the Lockwood Mansion to us, so Mr. Williams and Ms. Tig are now in the process of evacuating our students from the lower grades." Dr. Saltzman continues.
"Why don't we just evacuate the damn artifact?" a vampire asks.

"We are much more well-equipped than the world at large to handle the arrival of a monster. Once we know what we're dealing with and the problem is contained, then we can reassess what to do with the artifact. If any of you would like to evacuate, please talk to Dorian or Emma. However, exam week will continue as scheduled, wherever you are. I know. I'm sorry. I can't exactly call the state accreditation board and tell them that we're canceling the exams because of monsters. We'll get through this, I promise. Try and get some rest, okay? Good night" Dr. Saltzman then dismisses the rest of us.

"Hope's M.I.A." I observed. I honestly thought she would be here since she was there when we came across the artifact, but maybe she's tired and fell asleep, maybe?
"Yeah, she's probably suiting up in her battle armor. Girl's basically Wonder Woman." Rafael jokes.
"Either that or she's realized she's made a mistake bringing me back here 'cause where I go, danger follows." I comment.
Rafael sighs and turns to me.
"My God. Come on, bro. Now, this one's not on you." he reassures me.
"I mean, her being gone today has got to have something to do with us waking up in a field with amnesia yesterday, right?"

"Look, until one of you can remember how you guys got there, I just... I-I just wouldn't think about it. Look, you're here. Think about the good things in your life instead of getting caught up in the bad for once, bro." he advises. "Yeah." I say.
"Uh, I'm gonna grab my bags and hit the library again. Okay. I'll see you at breakfast in the morning?" he asks. "Yeah, see you at breakfast." I reply.
He walks to leave but then turns to me again. "Hey, Lan, I'm glad you're back." he says. I smile at him. Then I head back to bed. Hopefully, I can talk to Hope tomorrow.

Hope's POV

When I woke up after my much-needed sleep, I go to take a shower to get ready for whatever monster is coming. The moment I exit the bathroom, my phone rings, as if on cue. I pick it up and see a sleepy Josie on my screen. It's already 6 here so it's probably late at night there.
"Hey, Jo" "Hey, Hope"
"You look tired" I observe.
"Yeah it's 1 am here." she states.
"You should go to sleep, Jo." I say.
"Yeah I will. I just wanted to call you before I go to bed." she replies.
"Well next time don't call me too late, I don't want you staying up just to call me, you need to rest, you have exams coming up." I say.

"I know. I'm already studying. And if I call you early, I'll wake you up." she states.
"Yeah forgot about that, I hate time zones." I state. "Yeah me too." she chuckles. I pause to think on what to say
"Um. Well, you can call me when you get ready for bed. Don't worry if you wake me up. I need to wake up early anyway."
"Okay. But can I call you in the morning? I mean night there? "
"Yeah, you can call me. I'll wait for your call. I sleep late anyways " I admit. She gives me a stern look.
"I don't want you staying up just to call me, you need to rest, you have exams coming up." she says.
