Chapter 17 : We're Alone Now (Ep. 11|Part 1)

Josie's POV

When I wake up I am immediately greeted by Lizzie's face, so close to mine. "Ahh! Lizzie, what are you doing?"
"Where did you get that painting?" she asks, backing away and gesturing to the painting Hope gave me yesterday, hanging above my bed.
"Good morning to you too." I say.
"Where did you get it? Actually no, better question who painted it?" she asks. I look down at my fidgeting hands and stare at them. Trying to avoiding Lizzie's questions. She clears her throat and forces me to look up to her and I see that she is still waiting for an answer.
"I got it from Hope. She gave it to me yesterday." I reply hesitantly.

"Why would that supernatural salad give you a painting of yourself. It's creepy."
"No, it's not. It's a very kind gesture. Now can you please stop asking me about this?" I say and get up from the bed getting ready for today.
"What do you mean drop it. She painted you, Josie, you may be friends and all but that isn't what friends do. Are guys dating or something?" she asks. I blush and she sees my reaction and takes it the wrong way.
"Oh my god, you are! I do not accept this relationship. Being friends with Hope is one thing, I won't allow you to date her." she exclaims. It hurts me. She is my sister but she can't choose who I date, she may not approve of them but she doesn't have the right to control my love life. But then again. I'm not dating Hope.

"You can't control who I have a relationship with Lizzie. And besides Hope and I aren't dating. She's just my.. friend. My best friend. Nothing more." I explain, but she still doesn't believe me.
"Look I don't know why she painted me, she just said she got inspired so she painted me. It doesn't mean anything. It's just a gift" I continue. She looks a little more convinced now.
"Can you please drop it now?" I ask, she doesn't reply, so I think she going to push it more. But to my surprise, Lizzie stopped talking about it. Today's a Sunday and me and Hope are hanging out today. I quickly had a shower and changed then went to breakfast with Lizzie. We get to the cafeteria and we see that Hope is sitting with Mg and Kaleb. We grab our food and join them at the table. When we reach the table Hope abruptly leaves. "What was that about?"
"She said she's going to find Raf and Landon." Kaleb answers. "Ohh. Okay." I say, trying to hide my jealousy.

Me and Lizzie take our seats at the table
"Since when are you and Hope friends?" Lizzie asks Mg and Kaleb.
"We've been hanging out now and then, ever since we fought a dream demon." Mg answers proudly.
"I can't believe she's trying to steal you guys too! " Lizzie exclaims. Mg and Kaleb look confused.
"Lizzie she's not stealing us from you. We can all be friends" I state. Lizzie scoffs. I sigh.
"Look I know you don't like Hope, but try and be civil okay, she's trying to be nice. She can hang out with us, you don't even have to talk to her, just be civil." she nods and eats her breakfast. Mg kept going on about how Hope won't steal him from Lizzie and reassuring that he will always choose her, trying to earn him points with Lizzie.

We ate breakfast and we went our separate ways. I walked around trying to find Hope. When I find her in the library with Landon, laughing about something. She spots me and I wave to her, but she just ignores me and goes back to Landon. That hurt. Why is ignoring? Is this about what happened yesterday? The rest of the day I try to talk to Hope, but she keeps avoiding me. I can't find her anywhere, and when I do spot her she's with Landon. Much to my dismay. I tried to approach her but she just walks the other way. So I stopped trying, she's avoiding me, I just don't know why? What did I do? I'll try and confront this to her tomorrow, she can't avoid me when we have classes together.

Hope's POV

The whole day I tried my best to avoid Josie, and thankfully I succeeded. I just spent some time with Landon, we're okay now, no more awkwardness but I know he still I don't want to hurt her feelings I know we have plans for today, but I honestly confused and scared about everything. I don't know where she stands. I tried to kiss her two times yesterday, and both times she seemed okay with. I'm just confused. I want to know if she likes me too, but I don't have the guts to confront her about it. At around midnight we heard the bell signaling that the trap worked we trapped a monster, me Dr. Saltzman and Dorian immediately head out into the mill to see the monster and it turns out its a unicorn. I convinced them not to kill it, they both reluctantly agreed but Dorian needed more convincing.
